Mercury

Senior Product Manager - Financial Crimes

San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, or Remote within Canada or United States Full Time

Risk is the nervous system behind every magical banking* experience. It senses, responds, protects, without fanfare. It doesn’t power motion, but without it, motion goes awry.

At Mercury, we build systems that identify good customers and protect them. We create fluid, intelligent experiences that let customers move confidently and securely through their day. We believe our obligation to the customer does not stop with the transaction but our aim is to ensure a strong financial ecosystem across the entire banking infrastructure.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the evolution of our Financial Crimes systems. You’ll define and build the infrastructure that underpins our Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions monitoring and reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who sees platforms not as abstract systems, but as multipliers of impact. Someone who understands that well-structured data and decisions are the foundation for everything from delightful automation to resilient control.

*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

What you'll do:

  • Define the vision and technical roadmap for Mercury’s FinCrimes team.
  • Build flexible, high precision monitoring platforms
  • Ensure reporting requirements are seamless and efficient
  • Partner with engineering, risk strategy, data science, and risk operations to design APIs, data platforms, rule engines, and model orchestration workflows
  • Enable continuous improvement by designing feedback loops that connect decisions to outcomes
  • Collaborate with domain PMs (fraud, onboarding) to build reusable capabilities that reduce redundancy and amplify speed
  • Establish a platform strategy that balances extensibility, resilience, observability, and performance.  Balancing internal systems with external partners.
  • Define and track platform health, adoption, and impact metrics

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of product management experience, including time spent building platform or infrastructure products
  • Good understanding of AML and Sanctions domain
  • Technical fluency; ability to dive deep in partnership with engineering while maintaining clarity for non-technical stakeholders
  • A product mindset that blends customer empathy with systems thinking
  • Track record of creating internal tools or platforms that unlock speed, consistency, or quality across product teams
  • Experience partnering with ML/DS teams to deploy and manage risk or scoring models
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building new foundations from scratch
  • Experience in risk, compliance, or financial services is a plus, but not required
