This position is for an experienced professional with demonstrated leadership in Avionics at Collins Aerospace.  The individual will lead large developments as well as full lifecycle management of Avionics computing products within the Avionics Displays, Computing, & Networking (DCN) Product Lines Organization.

This position will have life cycle responsibilities for both development of new Avionics products and lifecycle management of products both fielded and in production.

The Value Stream Leader (VSL) coordinates technical product development, integrating the work of research and development, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and service functions for a product line.

Primary responsibilities for this position include strategic planning for their assigned product lines, execution of product developments, promoting cross-business product synergies to support business unit objectives, and leading the Integrated Product Team (IPT). The product VSL directs all phases of product development from inception through completion.

Qualified candidates should have a strong hardware and/or software technical background in Avionics products and systems, with experience leading and managing complex product or system developments through certification.  Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to balance technical knowledge and business acumen to manage this product line.

This position is onsite in Melbourne, Florida.

What You Will Do: 

  • Manages products through their entire life cycle and creates cross-business product synergies to support business objectives.
  • Develops product roadmaps and identifies opportunities to generate product reuse across multiple programs.
  • Supports annual strategic planning efforts for the business.
  • Identifies product requirements for development of the product line.
  • Regularly prepares and presents value-stream strategy, progress, and results to various levels of leadership.
  • Ensures successful transition of products into the manufacturing environment.
  • Develops product quality improvement plans based upon evaluation of product customer acceptance rates, reliability, scrap, and other quality data.
  • Establishes cost focused performance targets and directs work to achieve these targets.
  • Leads the Integrated Product Team and is accountable for the team’s results.

Tactical Execution Responsibilities:

  • Develops milestones, program plans, schedules and budgets for programs, and gets them approved via all necessary levels of leadership. 
  • Leads complex development programs to ensure adherence to program plans, schedules and budgets and drives appropriate adjustments. 
  • Coordinates a large team of different skillsets and background in support of program objectives. 
  • Identifies and reacts to program problems and recommends/supports solutions, such as changing contractual specifications and priorities.  
  • Supervises the appropriate use of all resources allocated to the program, provides business priorities to ensure efficient use of resources.  
  • Participates in and leads the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operational budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests. 
  • Manages supplier relationships in coordination with Subcontracts Management

Business Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to commercial pursuits and provides product guidance in support of winning strategies 
  • Is accountable for cost, schedule, technical performance, risk management, product support, manufacturing, and quality of all assigned product lines. 
  • Works with all business units to ensure customer commitments are met or exceeded. 
  • Interfaces with customers in support of Channel VSLs for project specifications, responses to customer action items, execution status reports and roadmap discussions.  

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Experience in project management.

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written Demonstrated accountability and reliability in all circumstances.   
  • Experience with complex hardware and software project planning and execution. 
  • Cognizance and proven experience of Collins certification processes and industry standards like DO-178C, DO-254, and DO-160. 
  • Cognizance and proven experience of the earned value management system. 
  • Experience with hardware manufacturing transition and sustained production experience is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
