We’re looking for a systems-minded, craft-driven Senior Product Designer to help evolve Yahoo’s Universal Navigation System—the primary way people discover, access, and move between Yahoo’s products and content.
In this highly visible role, you’ll design navigation experiences that balance clarity, scalability, and visual excellence across a large, diverse ecosystem. Your work will directly shape how users orient themselves within Yahoo, find what they need quickly, and experience consistency and trust across surfaces.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners—including Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, Content Strategists, and Designers—to design navigation systems that work across platforms, regions, and use cases. This role requires strong judgment, exceptional design craft, and comfort operating within complexity.
This role also works closely with Senior Principal Product Designers across Yahoo, as navigation intersects with nearly every major product initiative. You’ll collaborate on complex, high-impact problems and contribute to shared systems that influence the broader design ecosystem. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Product Designer to deepen their systems thinking, design judgment, and craft by learning alongside designers of the highest caliber, while owning meaningful, visible work.
We’re especially interested in designers who use AI tools as an integral part of their design process from the start—exploration and synthesis through prototyping and iteration. You see AI not as an add-on, but as a core capability for thinking, making, and learning faster.
Lead the design of Yahoo’s universal navigation experiences across products and platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and scalability.
Design navigation systems that support a wide range of user intents while balancing business priorities and long-term platform needs.
Translate complex information architectures into intuitive, elegant interfaces with strong visual hierarchy and interaction design.
Collaborate with researchers to identify when research is needed, interpret findings, and synthesize patterns across qualitative and quantitative data.
Use AI-powered tools and workflows to rapidly explore concepts, generate alternatives, and create interactive prototypes throughout the design process.
Prototype early and often—at low, medium, and high fidelity—to test assumptions, validate behaviors, and communicate design intent.
Advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design across all navigation patterns and interactions.
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, content, analytics, and design partners to deliver production-ready solutions at scale.
Work alongside Senior Principal Product Designers on cross-cutting initiatives where navigation plays a critical role, aligning system-level decisions across teams.
Present work clearly and confidently to stakeholders, articulating rationale, tradeoffs, and decision-making under ambiguity.
Contribute to design critiques and help evolve shared navigation patterns, components, and systems across Yahoo.
A strong systems thinker with a point of view on navigation, findability, and user orientation.
Exceptionally skilled in visual design and interaction craft, with a sharp eye for hierarchy, spacing, typography, and detail.
Comfortable designing within large, complex ecosystems and making thoughtful decisions with imperfect or incomplete data.
Fluent in consuming and synthesizing research and analytics, even when you are not leading the research yourself.
AI-native in your workflow, using AI tools to explore ideas, build prototypes, iterate quickly, and evaluate outcomes throughout the design process.
Comfortable collaborating with highly senior design partners, open to feedback, and motivated to grow through exposure to complex, system-level challenges.
A clear, confident communicator who can advocate for users and influence decisions through logic, empathy, and design excellence.
Skilled at balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives without compromising quality
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Visual Communication, or a related field.
4+ years of experience designing digital products, preferably within large-scale platforms, content-rich ecosystems, or navigation frameworks.
A portfolio demonstrating strong systems thinking, excellent visual and interaction design craft, and polished execution.
Experience working on cross-functional product teams and shipping work at scale.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards.
Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools; experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows is required.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
