*This role is open to hybrid or remote candidates (East coast preference), with hybrid being central to our Charlotte area office. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.
Coverage.com, a Red Ventures company, is seeking a Senior Product Designer to accelerate the growth of Coverage.com as we scale our high-velocity team and build out a compelling consumer value proposition & product in the Insurance space. Coverage.com is an online insurance agency and marketplace where shoppers compare and purchase auto, home, and renters insurance from top national carriers.
In this role, you will take a leading role in driving user-centered digital experiences as the dedicated product designer for Coverage. This is a high-autonomy, IC role to be the primary creative voice for the Coverage product. The right candidate for this role will be highly-organized and collaborative, working in close cross-functional partnership with Product and Engineering, to execute and steer Coverage through a significant product growth chapter. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Product. You will be joining a fast-paced, growth-stage product team focused on transforming Red Ventures' business model in the insurance space.
What You'll Do:
- Drive the creative evolution of the end-to-end consumer journey. Design experiences across the quote-bind-payment-purchase journey, with a focus on how each piece fits into the customer journey. Curate the details and moments throughout the user experience to create a clear and easy shopping experience. Work directly with Engineering and Product teams to execute on the roadmap and bring your ideas to life.
- Design from customer problem to shipped experience. Partner with PMs to clarify problem spaces, ask the right questions, and push beyond ticket-level acceptance criteria. Lead the design process: discovery, concepts, flows, wireframes, prototypes, visual design, and implementation details.
- Build for a future of embeddable, partner-ready experiences. Design turnkey embeddable experiences for partnerships (embedded/cobranded flows) that feel seamless and trustworthy. Create scalable patterns and frameworks that can be reused across multiple partners.
- Research and advocate for the voice of the consumer. Develop subject-matter expertise, understand user problems, business goals, how competitors solve them, and where gaps exist. Identify UXR opportunities, define learning goals, and run usability tests & concept feedback sessions. Synthesize insights and share actionable findings with the wider Product team to influence decisions. Leverage internal agents for feedback and insights to guide user flows.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and QA. Produce clear flows, specs, and interaction details; collaborate closely with an agile team of engineers to produce seamless user experiences in production. Participate in pre-launch QAs with a focus on UX, interaction details, states, and edge cases.
- Maintain and evolve the Coverage design system. Build upon the existing design system to ensure Coverage experiences remain consistent and efficient to build as we scale. Keep components and patterns current over time, utilizing AI tooling to focus the majority of your time on key product and UI work.
- AI and workflow efficiency. Incorporate AI-powered methods (for exploration, content, components/patterns, variant management, testing) to create agility and cut out repetitive tasks. Identify where junior support would meaningfully accelerate impact as Coverage grows.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years in Product/UX design roles focused on digital product experiences (B2C strongly preferred, fintech or financial services are a plus).
- Proven experience owning end-to-end design for high-complexity projects, not just isolated UI screens.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates a highly-polished, user-centric design sense, a clean command over interaction design, typography and usability, as well as creative strategy.
- Background working closely with PMs and Engineers to shape what gets built, not just designing after decisions are made.
- Strong interaction and interface design skills, with real work examples that show clearly-articulated user flows, thoughtful states, and systems thinking.
- Advanced understanding of product strategy and user research; you can clearly connect user problems to flows and business outcomes.
- Comfortable running practical UX research autonomously (usability testing, concept feedback) and turning insights into decisions.
- Fluent in data-informed design. You know how to think in user funnels and metrics, and understand how UX decisions will drive metrics like quote completions and conversion rates.
- Skilled at balancing speed and quality; you can execute work efficiently without cutting corners on clarity and thoughtfulness.
- Confident, persuasive communicator as the primary creative voice, using rationale and data to gain buy-in. Brings perspective and curiosity to problem-solving and comfortable advocating for their point-of-view.
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy: you instinctively identify important work, prioritize your priorities, and advocate to push work forward.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator; experience working with teammates across functions like Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Compliance, and Legal.
Even Better:
- Experience in the P&C insurance industry or in broader FinTech. Technology-driven product design in financial services overall is a plus, but insurance-specific is ideal.
- Strong familiarity with insurance terminology, insurance and financial industry regulations, & carrier and/or consumer reporting technology.
- Experience with designing and adapting digital buy-flows; marketplace experiences, online carts, purchase & payment flows, post-purchase experience, etc.
- Experience with designing for human- and AI-interactive experiences; customer service tools, online chat functionality, text/SMS capabilities, email campaigns.
Compensation:
- Cash Compensation Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
- New York Compensation Range: $125,000 - $187,500 per year (NYC-based employees must work in-office, onsite Tues-Thurs)
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience
Additionally, the following benefits are provided by Red Ventures, subject to eligibility requirements.
- Health Insurance Coverage (medical, dental, and vision)
- Life Insurance
- Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Holiday Pay
- 401(k) with match
- Employee Assistance Program
- Paid Parental Bonding Benefit Program
- Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO): We believe time to rest and recharge is essential. That’s why we offer a generous and flexible PTO policy. Full-time employees accrue 20 days of PTO for a full calendar year annually, with an increase to 25 days after five years of service.
