CommBank

Senior Product Designer

Sydney CBD Area Full time

Senior Product Designer - CommSee 2.0

Are you ready to reimagine the way we help customers?

CommSee is Commonwealth Bank's core assisted channel platform, empowering over 30,000 staff to deliver exceptional services to our customers. We are embarking on an exciting journey to reimagine the CommSee experience, transforming how we serve customers today and shaping the foundation for tomorrow.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer who can work confidently at both ends of the design spectrum. On one side, you will contribute to our design library, partner with CBA’s central Design System team, and dive into detailed UI patterns. You will also guide how teams understand and apply patterns, help shape system improvements, set up frameworks, templates and resources to ensure consistency across CommSee. On the other, you will zoom out to shape service-level experiences, supporting stakeholders and other teams through discovery, journey mapping, service blueprints, testing, workshops and facilitation.

This role suits someone who enjoys switching seamlessly between system-level detail and big-picture thinking. You thrive in ambiguity, help teams find clarity, and bring a balanced approach to strategic conversations and hands-on execution.

You will thrive here if you enjoy working with people as much as with pixels, and if you are energised by communication, collaboration, and orchestrating alignment across teams.

Our Approach

We are building a product focused way of working across product, design, and engineering. Joining a recently formed crew, you will help shape our design practices, collaboration rhythms, and the way we apply design systems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end to end product design, from early discovery through to solution delivery, shaping clear problem definitions and iterating toward validated outcomes.

  • Own, contribute and evolve the CommSee design library, ensuring patterns are scalable, high quality, accessible, and aligned with broader system direction.

  • Support teams in understanding when to use, adapt, or extend patterns, enabling system led, consistent design without slowing delivery.

  • Create and facilitate artefacts such as user journeys, service blueprints, experience flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to communicate direction and enable high quality delivery.

  • Conduct design reviews and provide guidance to other teams to ensure consistency, quality, and strong design system adoption across the platform.

  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships, influence decision making, and ensure alignment across product, engineering, operations, and design.

  • Partner with the central CBA Design System team to identify system improvements, propose new components or patterns, and close gaps surfaced through product work.

  • Lead user research planning, facilitation, synthesis, and playbacks using appropriate methods to uncover insights and guide decisions.

  • Champion design craft, experience coherence, and platform thinking across the CommSee ecosystem.

  • Facilitate workshops, co design sessions, and alignment activities that bring teams together and create shared understanding.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience across the full product design process, from discovery through to delivery.

  • Experience working with a design system or design library, including contributing patterns, reviewing designs, or evolving components.

  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills. You enjoy bringing people together and shaping direction.

  • A balanced skill set. Equally comfortable running a workshop, mapping a journey, creating detail UI and patterns or conducting design reviews.

  • Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable design direction that balances user needs, system constraints, and business goals.

  • Strong influencing skills to drive alignment and ensure cohesive, high-quality experiences across teams.

  • Proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and testing methodologies.

  • Comfort working autonomously in an evolving environment.

Why Join Us

  • Shape the future of a platform relied on by tens of thousands of CBA staff, enabling them to deliver exceptional service to our customers

  • Work in a highly collaborative, customer first culture.

  • Influence not just product outcomes, but how we design and deliver at scale.

  • Enjoy autonomy, ownership, and the chance to shape new ways of working.

If this role sounds like the next move for you, please apply with a CV and a portfolio that showcases your end-to-end product design process, craft, outcomes, and measurable impact, including any contributions to design systems or cross team design alignment.
