Compassion’s USA Marketing, Fundraising and Innovation teams are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist who will play a leadership role in defining and shaping the future of procurement in our division; driving us toward significant savings and partnerships with supply partners that will help us unlock revenue potential for the future.

This Senior Procurement Specialist will be focused on managing the procurement activities and supplier portfolio of professional service providers. The scope of work in this area is highly varied and ever changing as we continually pursue growth in our revenue and improvement in our operational efficiency. Many of these professional service providers perform high risk and complex work on behalf of our ministry, and our ability to source the right supplier, negotiate the best terms and conditions, and relationally nurture and manage performance of these suppliers is critical to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’s name.

This senior level specialist is the most experienced procurement contract negotiator within the Office of the Chief Marketing Officer, offering support to a variety of procurement specialists and business owners in the negotiation and writing of terms and conditions. Further he or she leads the partnership with Compassion’s legal services team for all procurement activities including raw materials, finished goods, professional services, and creative print production. This Specialist may be called upon to step into a procurement activity outside of professional services or to support and coach a more junior specialist in their procurement activities.

This procurement expert develops and performs continuous improvement studies in supplier relationship management, contract processing, negotiation strategy, and process standardization, creating tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of sourcing practices within Compassion. Primary outcomes will include increasing the speed of procurement processes, delivering reliable service performance, improving marketing quality, and lowering operational costs.

Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Serves as a prominent member of teams that develop and implement strategies to effectively procure supplies, materials and services to fulfill Compassion ministry programs. Ensures the most favorable terms and conditions for global or local ministry operations. Continuously assesses supply markets, trends, supplier capabilities and industry developments to optimize short- and long-term sourcing strategies.

  • Institutes contractual relationships with service providers, coordinating contract and purchasing activities, including development, negotiation and transition. Participates in creating, negotiating and incorporating contract amendments, renegotiating the contract, if required, to accommodate scope changes. Provides contract expertise to legal staff and other key stakeholders.

  • Participates on or leads teams that develop and implement strategies for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, service delivery improvements and process efficiencies, such as negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers. Develops and owns supply roadmaps and resource planning for key sourcing strategies. Maintains open and transparent communication with other collaborators and suppliers to ensure alignment and coordination.

  • Analyzes ministry strategies and operations in order to structure contractual agreements uniquely for major initiatives, analyzing complex situations, identifying risks and leading teams to develop agreements that satisfy the requirements, mitigate risk, resolve conflicts of interest, and provide Compassion best value acquisitions to expanded our ministry. Crafts or participates in the development of Requests for Proposals to solicit bids for goods and services in satisfaction of Compassion's ministry needs.

  • Performs specialized work such as reviewing purchase order claims and major contracts for conformance, coordinating the development of new products, materials and/or services with suppliers, developing specifications and collaborating with suppliers on the ministry's technical, operational and quality requirements. Partners with suppliers on technical aspects of development work, such as selecting materials and subcontractors.

  • Leverages Supplier Relationship Management principles to monitor supplier performance and resolve issues to ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery schedules and to protect the ministry. Implements strategies to prevent conflicts, promote a collaborative work environment, drive innovation, and deliver long-term value to the ministry.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in managing shifting priorities, cross functional resource constraints, and unexpected challenges. Fosters a collaborative and productive work environment where team members can thrive despite competing demands.

  • Coaches and provides expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the sourcing discipline.

What do you bring?

  • Ten years Relevant experience working in this or a related field.

  • Proven ability to lead complex contract negotiations, develop and refine commercial terms, and draft legally sound agreements that align with organizational goals and mitigate risk.

  • Demonstrated success in sourcing and managing professional services across multiple industries, with a strong track record of optimizing supplier selection, cost efficiency, and service delivery.

  • Skilled in cultivating strategic supplier partnerships, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing improvement initiatives to ensure compliance, quality, and long-term value.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of normal schedule.
