The Multidomain Sensing, Targeting, and Survivability Division (MSTS) Manufacturing team of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer located at the Waynesboro, Virginia campus.
What You'll Get To Do:
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer (MSE) will be responsible for accelerating affordable maturation of product lines and programs by providing a technical, systems-based Operations voice throughout the capture, product development, and execution phases through Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP)/MRL 8.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Engaging with the business units during pre-proposal, proposal, and early execution program phases as the Operations technical strategy lead and offering insight into higher yielding, novel, and evolving manufacturing processes.
Developing a Manufacturing Plan for each phase of the program, following the AS6500 framework.
Performing a Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA) using the DoD MRL Deskbook and MRL Users Guide.
Leading design-for-automation efforts.
Conducting most modeling and Design-to-Cost activities.
Deploying digital transformation of MSE work products for the use of efficient and successful manufacturing planning.
Identifying producibility gaps between current and required capabilities for executing on new hardware, then developing Manufacturing Maturity Plans (MMP) to address these gaps. MMPs will include but not be limited to execution of Affordability, Manufacturing Planning, NCTA Planning, Capital Planning and Strategic Sourcing Efforts.
Ensuring success of critical Technology Demonstrator builds in the factory.
Establishing NCTA, CRAD, and Capital funding plans that ensure execution readiness for product lines and programs in the factory and supply base.
Working with the Sector Infrastructure team to determine manufacturing locations for future programs or phases and developing Facility Transition Plans.
The ideal candidate:
Is self-motivated, a leader, works independently, and is passionate about next generation electromechanical RF sensor technology.
Must be able to understand complex technical issues and frame them in context for program management leadership and functional Vice Presidents alike.
Has excellent organizational, project management and communication skills.
This position is contingent upon proposal/task award.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in manufacturing or engineering (6 years with a Master's degree).
Experience in manufacturing engineering or with manufacturing processes.
Experience leading or managing projects.
Fluency in MS Office software applications.
Experience with processes and materials used to make RF Sensors.
Must have an active US Government Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain additional program clearance(s).
US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
4 or more years of manufacturing process engineering related experience.
2 or more years of program experience (operations program manager, program management).
Experience with new product development.
Experience with functional electrical test and Test Design Engineering (TDE).
Experience with analytical problem decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, and solution implementation.
Experience working with Global Supply Chain & Strategic Sourcing.
Understanding of factory costing methodology and process yield metrics.
Basic understanding of concepts related to typical manufacturing systems such as: MRP, kitting, batch sizing, configuration control, and workflow routings.
Experience showcasing a project’s capabilities and benefits to existing and potential customers to secure funding and support development activities.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
