Senior Principal Engineer – Applications Development
What can you expect?
We are seeking a skilled Senior Cloud Automation Specialist in the Cloud Platform Solutions Team to design, develop, and operate automation solutions that scale cloud operations and FinOps capabilities across our public cloud environments. This role focuses on building automation pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Python-based tools to enhance operational efficiency, cost governance, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS, proficient Python scripting skills, and a pragmatic approach to operational runbooks, metrics, and FinOps automation. Experience with Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a plus. A minimum of three years’ experience in cloud automation with a focus on operational and FinOps activities is required. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Kanban and Scrum) is also beneficial.
What is in it for you?
- Design and develop automation solutions and frameworks to streamline cloud operations across multiple regions.
- Build and maintain Python automation for operational tasks, FinOps workflows (e.g., waste management, tagging enforcement), and internal APIs.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and modules to deliver repeatable, secure infrastructure.
- Operate and enhance CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and automation artifacts, including Git-based workflows, pipeline-as-code, and automated testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud automation issues, providing root cause analysis and support.
- Collaborate with internal clients and stakeholders (CloudOps and FinOps teams) to gather requirements, agree on design and scope, and develop/test automation solutions.
- Evaluate new technologies and automation platforms to ensure the use of current and effective software stacks.
- Develop reporting metrics to quantitatively measure the impact of automation solutions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to solve cloud and infrastructure management challenges.
- Innovate solutions to maintain automation environment stability and availability.
- Ensure all developed solutions are fully documented and supportable by the team.

- Expertise with cloud-native automation technologies such as AWS Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, or Azure equivalents (Azure Functions, EventGrid, Logic Apps).
- Proficient in Python programming; additional language skills are a plus.
- Solid experience in AWS or Azure cloud environments; OCI exposure is advantageous.
- Experience in Cloud Operations and/or FinOps automation.
- Skilled in working with third-party APIs, including SOAP, REST, XML, and JSON; proficient with API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI.
- Comfortable with database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, including database creation, connection, querying (SQL/T-SQL), and basic design.
- Exposure to Databricks and Power BI dashboard creation is a plus.
- Familiarity with API gateway/management tools like WSO2 Enterprise Integrator or AWS API Gateway is beneficial.
- Experience with ServiceNow and its API is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Terraform and Generative AI applications in automation is desirable.

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
- FinOps Foundation Certifications (optional):
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP)
- FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst or equivalent experience with FOCUS data models
- Experience authoring ServiceNow workflows or similar ticketing automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform), and cloud observability tools for operational monitoring.
- 3 - 5 years of professional experience in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, or FinOps automation roles.
- Strong Python scripting skills for ETL and automation tasks (e.g., parsing CSV/JSON, handling large CUR-style files).
- Experience with AWS or Azure (at least one required; both preferred); OCI experience is a plus.
- Practical experience working with AWS and/or Azure APIs.
- Strong systems integration skills, familiarity with REST APIs, and working knowledge of SQL/data modeling for cost data.
