Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (onsite)

What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring! We are seeking a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to develop electronic products for safety systems. You'll be apart of a Research & Development team in a World-leading multi-national organization. We're seeking a high level of technical expertise in electrical design, mechanical packaging, and project leadership in the development of hardware products, as well as a technical leader. This position is based in Westford, MA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility or able to relocate. Johnson Controls offers various relocation packages.

How you will do it

  • Lead projects: manage people, preparing and presenting project plans and proposals; then reporting on progress

  • Design and review electronic circuits for safety system components

  • Plan and conduct design qualification testing

  • Liaise with other departments including Product Management, Other R&D teams such as Software Engineers, Mechanical Designers, PCB Engineers, Technical Authors and SQA

  • Liaise with Factory Production Engineering and Test Engineering to introduce products into manufacture and maintain existing products

  • Liaise with other departments including Product Management, Marketing

  • Maintain adequate knowledge in relevant technical development

  • Provide technical support to Tech Support teams

  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers, including regulatory approval organization's around the world

What you will need
Required

  • 10+ years’ experience of electronic product development in an R&D environment

  • Experience with digital/microcontroller hardware development

  • Experience with analogue electronics design using sensors, a range of bipolar and MOSFET transistors, Op-Amps, passive components, etc.

  • 3+ years of experience leading a team and liaise with other teams, providing technical and procedural direction

  • Project Management

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in electronic engineering, although other degrees would be considered if they have relevant experience

Preferred

  • Experience in the Fire or Security industry

  • Designing to meet global regulatory product standards such as UL, BRE and VdS, including global directives, EMC standards

  • Experience of design and type testing for compatibility with International Standards

  • Digital and/or Analogue Simulation tools (e.g. SPICE)

  • Designing with programmable logic devices: PALs, FPGAs and CPLDs

  • Embedded Software development

  • Electrical Safety and/or Hazardous Area Applications

  • Field Bus and communication networks

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $130,000 - $180,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
