Dark Wolf is seeking a highly motivated and self-directed professional to fill the role of Senior Principal, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to support our team in Northern Virginia.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement scalable AI/ML computing infrastructures and application stacks.
- Build and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions from scratch.
- Transform machine learning models into APIs for integration with other applications.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver AI solutions.
- Conduct statistical analysis and interpret results to guide and optimize decision-making.
- Manage data ingestion, preprocessing, and feature engineering to ensure data quality for model training.
- Optimize AI algorithms for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest AI and machine learning advancements, research, and tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AI-related issues, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of AI applications.
- Document architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, and standard operating procedures for AI solutions.
- Potentially lead cross-functional teams in identifying and prioritizing areas where AI can provide business benefits.
- Advise stakeholders on AI strategy, technology, and policy issues.
- Automate AI infrastructures for the data science team.
- Evaluate and implement best practices in AI/ML, data mining, and analytics.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Contribute significantly to the solutioning process for white papers, Requests for Information (RFIs), and specific Request for Proposals (RFPs), bringing critical Voice of the Customer (VoC) insights and deep technical expertise to the development of compelling and winning proposals.
- Rapidly acquire a comprehensive understanding of Dark Wolf's existing and in-development suite of solutions and key differentiators to effectively inform capture efforts and technical solutioning activities.
- Provide insightful analysis and constructive feedback to Apex Innovations leadership regarding the strengths and weaknesses of current solutions, identify potentially relevant adjacent technologies and solutions, and contribute to the strategic marketing of these offerings leveraging both VoC understanding and technical experience.
- Actively participate in the evaluation of novel ideas and proactively propose new research and development initiatives for consideration, aligning with market trends and customer demands.Provide direct technical leadership and impactful contributions to customer engagements, potentially including direct support on consulting projects and/or facilitating seamless technical transitions for newly awarded programs.
Qualifications:
- Master’s in Computer Vision, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
- 10+ years experience with 3+ years of demonstrated and related industry experience
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and/or R.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, and/or PyTorch.
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning), deep learning, and neural networks.
- Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.\Familiarity with data management and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, SQL, NoSQL databases).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to articulate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of basic algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience, including a proven track record of technical leadership in the defense or intelligence sectors
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Vision, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Deep understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, as well as neural networks and deep learning
- Expertise in TensorFlow, Keras, and/or PyTorch
- Advanced programming skills in Python, Java, and/or R
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Exceptional ability to articulate technical solutions to both technical engineers and non-technical senior executives.
