The Senior. Platform Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Engineer is responsible for documenting, coordinating, and status accounting the program’s COTS baseline. This position requires close attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. It also requires prioritizing tasks consistent with program priorities. The ideal candidate possesses attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills; and has experience with the MS Office product suite. To include windows and Linux based environments. The COTS Engineer coordinates closely with the Hardware and Infrastructure, Software and Systems Engineers, Configuration Manager, Material Program Manager, and Supply Chain Management to ensure all procured COTS are properly documented.

What You Will Do

  • Administer the technical coordination of COTS for the program
  • Support the development of the Program COTS architecture and related documentation
  • Administer an engineering repository in both Windows and Linux based systems
  • Coordinate with Configuration Management to ensure all COTS configuration-controlled items are properly identified, version controlled and recorded in a configuration status accounting system
  • Support the evaluation of COTS updates
  • Manage the resolution of COTS vendor issues
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management (SCM) and the Material Program Manager when applicable to resolve vendor issues
  • Manage and coordinate the maintenance support for each COTS product
  • Support Infrastructure status needs for COTS tracking, maintenance, license agreements, and data rights
  • Support metrics collection and reporting of COTS and track the program’s process against plan utilizing metrics-based tools
  • Conduct periodic COTS audits as aligned with IMS / System deliveries to compare and validate the recorded COTS baseline with the actual physical baseline
  • Track the closure of all audit findings/Action Items Related to COTS Management and produce reports to Infrastructure and CM management

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics and a minimum 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience working in a technical environment interfacing with systems, software, or hardware engineering disciplines, with an understanding of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Free Open-Source Software (FOSS) products
  • Strong interpersonal skills:  Applicant should possess the ability to communicate technical and project information to senior management
  • Experience defining, analyzing and reporting metrics utilizing Metrics Tools undefined
  • Active and Current TS/SCI / CI Poly Security Clearance Day 1.  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
