We are seeking a talented individual to join our MMB team at Mercer. This role will be based in Hong Kong. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Placement Analyst to join our Placement team. This role is critical for managing a complex portfolio of large corporate and jumbo clients, ensuring seamless placement of insurance coverage that aligns with client needs and market conditions. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong relationships with clients, carriers, and underwriters, while supporting strategic growth initiatives and operational excellence.
We will count on you to:
- Manage a portfolio of high-value clients, including large corporate and jumbo accounts, ensuring tailored placement solutions that meet client requirements and market standards.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, clients, advisors, and internal stakeholders to evaluate, negotiate, and secure optimal insurance coverage.
- Oversee the entire placement process, including submissions, obtaining quotes, binding coverage, and preparing audit-ready placement binders and documentation.
- Maintain and strengthen critical relationships with carriers, underwriters, and clients to support client retention, renewals, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Provide market insight and technical expertise to ensure placements are competitive, compliant, and aligned with underwriting policies and pricing strategies.
- Identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risks associated with insurance placements.
- Support pricing discussions, go-to-market strategies, and participate in large, complex projects that drive business growth.
- Ensure operational efficiency and accuracy in all placement activities, minimizing errors and delays.
- Collaborate with the Placement Manager and other team members to achieve departmental goals and deliver exceptional client service.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years' experience working with life and health insurance products and related services.
- Solid understanding of the overall life and health insurance industry, with a strong track record in client and vendor management.
- Proven experience managing complex employee benefit insurance placements.
- Strong knowledge of market practices, underwriting policies, and pricing strategies within the insurance industry.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to independently manage project scope and deliverables, ensuring completion within budget and on time.
- Self-initiative and motivation to stay informed about industry trends, seek out knowledge, and contribute proactively to the team.
- Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills to build effective relationships with carriers, clients, and internal teams.
- People management skills, including fostering teamwork, coaching, motivating colleagues, and supporting attraction and retention efforts.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage time-sensitive and complex tasks accurately.
- Ability to work independently and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing placement documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong language skills in English and Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
