Senior P&L Valuations Specialist

The Role
We are seeking a highly qualified Credit P&L Specialist to work as part of our P&L Valuations team in New York. This is an exciting opportunity to partner and support the growth of our Credit business within the discretionary macro & fixed income strategy. The team falls under our Accounting department and collaborates closely with groups across the firm including Portfolio Managers, Treasury, COO team, Business Analytics, Fund Accounting, Risk and Operations.

 

What you’ll do
The successful candidate will work closely with the Front Office system (Clarion), the firm’s inhouse Geneva system and Fund Administrators to ensure the accuracy of the enterprise P&L at Schonfeld.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Owning the daily pricing and P&L reporting processes including reconciliation across Front Office, shadow accounting and Fund Admin
  • Intraday and end of day pricing
  • Accurate end of day flash, T+1 and monthly P&L reporting
  • Trade capture review and lifecycle events (coupon accrual, amortization, factor changes, call/redemption, pay-downs) 
  • Root-cause analysis of breaks
  • Investigation of valuation differences and explaining these to stakeholders
  • Valuation policy documentation and valuation committee packs
  • New products set up and onboarding of relevant market data feeds
  • KPI tracking
  • Leading relevant projects

 

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor's degree with 7 - 10 years of experience in Credit Valuations/Product Control
  • Expertise in securitized products (agency and non-agency) and structured credit
  • Strong valuation knowledge of corporate bonds, CDS, convertible bonds, loans and distressed debt
  • Familiarity with primary & secondary market workflows: new-issue allocations, gray-market pricing, when-issued trading, default workouts 
  • Team player, proactive and willing to take on additional responsibility
  • Ability to challenge portfolio managers while maintaining strong relationships
  • Ability to handle a high volume of data in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
  • Continuous-improvement mindset – automation of manual processes

We’d love if you had:

  • Experience in a buy-side firm
  • VBA and/or Python knowledge
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Geneva, Intex

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $170,000 and $190,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
