Job Title: Senior Phlebotomist

SUMMARY:
As a Senior Phlebotomist, you serve as a laboratory liaison to patients, nursing personnel and house staff and assure excellence in quality and safety of blood collection and analysis.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Care. Provide patient with all necessary information about the procedure; ensure patient is comfortable and safe
  • Blood Collection & Documentation. Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture; ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing; prepare specimens for processing and complete any associated paperwork
  • Mentoring & Training. Mentor those learning phlebotomy with personnel duties such as orientation, training, input on performance evaluations and coaching for performance improvement; provide direction and assist supervisor or designee in facilitating the workflow to ensure duties are completed timely and accurately
  • Transportation. Obtain the required specimens/labels and transport to specified area

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • H.S. or equivalent with specialization in Science related courses preferred.
  • Data entry, Secretarial or billing background considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medical/laboratory terminology preferred.
  • PBT (ASCP) certification preferred.
  • Clean NYS driver’s license preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
