Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, Counsel, Litigation & Risk, under attorney general supervision, the Senior Paralegal, Litigation & Employment, is a member of the Legal professional team whose responsibilities include: litigation, government investigations, and labor and employment matters.  The candidate will work with in house counsel on all aspects of litigation management and labor and employment matters,  such as handling service of process, coordinating discovery and document productions, handling subpoenas and other requests for employment records, maintaining case files, calendars and case lists, providing case updates for insurance reporting, and assisting in fact investigation and witness preparation. 

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation Support:

  • Receive, handle, and distribute service of process received at Malvern and coordinate service received at other company sites.

  • Work with in-house counsel and outside counsel to execute and update legal holds and answer questions from employees regarding the legal hold process.

  •  Manage complex and voluminous case files, including electronic and hard copy case files and developing and maintaining case charts and summaries.

  • Coordinate with other departments across company locations to locate, gather and organize onsite and offsite documents necessary for discovery requests and deposition preparation.

  • Work with in-house and outside counsel to coordinate witness interviews and deposition preparation for company witnesses.

  • Conduct fact investigation and legal research.

  • Conduct due diligence on potential expert consultants.

Document Information Requests:

  • Identify and prepare for production, including any necessary redactions, documents responsive to discovery, subpoena, and diligence requests.  This includes handling subpoenas and other requests for employment records.

  • Obtain verifications for discovery responses and pleadings and prepare certifications for subpoena responses.

Claims Handling:

  • Work with in-house counsel to ensure proper notice and reporting is made to the company’s insurers for all litigation matters and obtain updates in connection insurance policy renewals.

  • Provide timely notice of claims to pharmacovigilance department.

  • Handle pre-litigation claims, with attorney supervision.

Miscellaneous:

  • Work with in-house counsel to prepare updates to legal proceedings footnote to 10Q and 10K filings.

  • Provide legal assistance to Sales Operations regarding healthcare provider eligibility.

  • Assist in updating legal policies and training.

  • Provide necessary administrative support to the Litigation Group.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Paralegal certification required.

  • 7+ years progressive legal experience in a corporation, pharmaceutical company and/or law firm experience is preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of litigation process.

  • Working knowledge on how to conduct fact investigation and legal research.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong computer skills including advanced skills with Case Management Software, Adobe Acrobat Pro, MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn new software and systems.

  • Good presentation skills.

  • Strong, professional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and departments.

  • Strong writing and organizational skills, critical thinking, and reasoning abilities are required.

  • Ability to participate on teams with shared responsibility for outcomes and decision-making; resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.

  • Excellent judgment required.

  • Skills and desire to join and fully participate in a diversified, fast-paced multi-dimensional Legal Department.

  • Experience multi-tasking, managing multiple projects and assignments concurrently, and managing and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
