Come Drive Innovation with Us. We are currently looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team in Smyrna, TN.

Packaging engineer will work with suppliers, manufacturing, material handling, and other internal organizations to develop packaging for new models. The successful candidate will be required to manage the design and approval for supplier and in-house packaging for all major and minor model launches. This position will also be responsible for participating in activities that support TdC and other internal activities. This position will plan, maintain and track project development and report as required in order to ensure that all packaging is delivered on time to support all trials and start of production.

A Day in the Life:

  • Participate in supplier kick off/development meetings.

  • Support RFQ requirements through packaging validation.

  • Coordinate packaging requirements for new model at RFQ.

  • Develop budget for in-house containers and line side racks.

  • Utilize NNA standardized packaging guidelines including all safety requirements.

  • Review packaging proposals and coordinate approvals with all internal organizations and international Nissan plants as required.

  • Review and approve Packaging Data Sheets.

  • Design and develop prototype packaging concluding with testing to finalize design and manufacture.

  • Participate in launch readiness meetings and maintain reports as required.

  • Support and/or participate in VC-Lot Activities in Japan.

  • Confirm packaging compliance.

  • Handle part change request as it relates to packaging.

  • Support all major/minor model change studies.

  • Support all packaging related requests from internal groups and international Nissan plants.

  • Analyze fleet size for logistics route changes due to supplier relocation.

  • Identify opportunities through internal activities.

Who We're Looking for:

  • Candidate will possess international business experience dealing with international clients/business partners.

  • Candidate would have experience in exporting automotive components with a broad knowledge base in corrugate packaging design, VCI applications and international shipping regulations/standards.

  • Candidate should also have knowledge of transportation testing of containers including vibration and incline impact testing.

  • 5+ years of experience.

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology required.

Travel Required?

Occasional day, overnight, or international travel.
