The Senior Operations Manager will lead the assembly & test operations for complex aerospace and defense systems. This role will balance the rigorous quality standards of the defense industry with the operational efficiency required to meet demanding delivery schedules, while ensuring that safety, compliance and cost objectives are consistently met. You will lead cross-functional teams, optimize production systems, and implement continuous improvement initiatives in a highly regulated environment.
What You Will Do
Lead daily operations for assembly and test teams, ensuring production targets and program milestones are achieved
Drive a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across all levels of the organization
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business and program goals
Oversee resource allocation for optimal throughput
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve technical and production challenges
Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, visual management and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste
Manage labor variance, labor forecasting, and cost control initiatives
Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense regulations, standards, and customer requirements
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors, team-leads and technicians
Utilize data analytics and KPIs to drive decision-making and operational improvements
What You Will Learn

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
Experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Aerospace), Business Administration, Operations Management or related technical field
Leadership experience managing teams or programs in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries
Qualifications We Prefer
10+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or test operations
Strong command of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, production planning, scheduling, and performance metrics (KPIs)
Advanced education in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace), Business (MBA) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt)
Experience in aerospace or defense operations, including systems integration, hydraulics or functional testing, and familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality standards
Proven leadership in managing large teams and driving complex operational transformations in fast-paced, low-volume manufacturing environments
Expertise in data-driven decision-making, digital manufacturing tools, and proficiency with Tier 1 ERP and MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
