Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Manager of Operations to lead the site’s limited-production and job shop manufacturing area, a critical-to-business function supporting complex, low-volume, high-mix work. This role is accountable for day-to-day operational execution, capacity planning, and the effective coordination of machines, people, and processes to ensure safe, high-quality, and on-time delivery to customer and business commitments.

This leader brings deep manufacturing and machining expertise, sound operational judgment, and strong cross-functional influence to align work content with site capabilities. As a key interface between Engineering and Technicians to develop a manufacturing process that meets requirements as well as coordinating with Production Control, Quality, and Supply Chain to support production.  The Senior Manager ensures manufacturability, efficient scheduling, and continuous improvement across the limited production area.

What You Will Do

  • Lead all limited-production and job shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant execution of work.

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to understand manufacturability and providing accurate estimates for schedules, labor, and materials to support one-off internal work and projects for other Collins sites.

  • Own daily operational performance, balancing delivery, cost, quality, and safety objectives as well as longer term area 5 year strategy & capital plan.

  • Manage production flow across multiple machines and process types, aligning work with available equipment and workforce capacity.

  • Establish priorities, sequence work, and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and constraints.

  • Ensure adherence to standard work, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory and customer requirements.

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of site capabilities, including machines, processes, tooling, and workforce skills.

  • Determine optimal machine assignments for complex work content and identify technical, capacity, or risk constraints early.

  • Partner with Engineering, Quality and Technicians to resolve drawing clarity, tolerance, process, or producibility issues.

  • Collaborate closely with Production Control, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to align schedules, priorities, and resources.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure appropriate training, certification, and skill development aligned with current and future operational needs.

  • Apply CORE principles, lean manufacturing, and structured problem-solving methodologies to reduce waste, variability, and cycle time.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees are empowered to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Track, analyze, and communicate key operational metrics (safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity).

  • Lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives when performance gaps are identified.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

  • People leadership experience within manufacturing operations

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong understanding of machining processes, manufacturing methods, and equipment capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams in a high-mix, complex manufacturing environment.

  • Proven success driving daily production performance, troubleshooting issues, and leading floor-level execution.

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.

  • Aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing environment experience.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
