Senior Occupational Therapist - Independent Living Service

Liquid Personnel has an excellent opportunity which has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join Bolton’s Independent Living Service on a 3‑month contract. You’ll provide high‑level OT input across a collaborative health and social care environment, supporting Social Workers, Community Assessment Officers (CAOs), hospital teams, and wider NHS partners.
This post is ideal for an experienced OT confident in complex assessments, equipment/adaptations, and enabling independence for adults with a wide range of disabilities.

Service Overview:

The Independent Living Service includes:

  • Occupational Therapists
  • Disability Officers (CAOs)
  • Discharge‑to‑Assess at Home Team
  • Sensory Team
  • Telecare Service

The service works jointly across the Council and NHS to deliver integrated, person‑centred support.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Provide specialist OT assessments and interventions to promote safety, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with Social Workers, CAOs, NHS colleagues, and other health professionals.
  • Recommend and arrange equipment, techniques, and minor/major adaptations to meet service‑user needs.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of innovative service approaches across health and social care.
  • Support the discharge‑to‑assess pathway and other integrated working models.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and deliver high‑quality clinical reasoning.
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Independent Living Service.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy (essential).
  • Experience working in adult social care, community OT, or integrated health & social care settings.
  • Strong clinical skills in functional assessment, equipment, and adaptations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Confident working autonomously as a senior practitioner.
