Key Accountabilities
Management Information (MI) & Business Intelligence
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements, ensuring alignment on objectives and priorities.
Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
Design and develop MI/BI models and reporting solutions that meet business needs.
Ensure data integrity and accuracy across new and existing reports and queries.
Build user-friendly reporting tools (databases, cubes) and integrate them into MI frameworks.
Collaborate with external vendors to implement new solutions.
Develop and execute SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
Reverse-engineer existing solutions where necessary and resolve data-related issues through mining and analysis.
Able to understand accounting principles and apply that to solutions
Governance & Control
Create and manage project plans to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards, including data quality, lifecycle management, and security/privacy.
Perform integrity checks on all extracted data to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
Build and maintain strong relationships with business units to understand evolving requirements and gather feedback.
Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain a portfolio of MI solutions using validated data sources.
Promote best practices and recommend process improvements aligned with industry standards.
Educate end-users on solution design and functionality, ensuring usability and adoption.
Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to MI and BI.
Education & Experience
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Informatics, or related field (NQF Level 6).
Preferred: MSc in Statistics / MCom Informatics / BCom Honours.
Experience:
5+ years in Business Intelligence / Management Information roles preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office and BI tools (e.g., Business Objects, QlikView, Data Warehouse).
Strong SQL skills and experience with cross-functional, multi-jurisdictional teams.
Experience in Finance, understanding accounting principles
Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders effectively.
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced data analysis and analytics expertise. Be able to problem solve
Strong SQL and BI tool proficiency (Excel, SAS, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Solid understanding of regulatory and industry standards in Financial Services.
Strategic and lateral thinking with a holistic approach to information management.
Thorough knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking products and how they are accounted for in the Ledger.
Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge effectively.
