Job Description:

What will you work on?
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on our advanced development team, you will focus on creating innovative and mechanically complex toy products. You will partner closely with Toy Designers, Electrical Engineers, and Manufacturing teams to bring concepts to life. This role is responsible for developing engineering solutions for high-complexity products, translating early ideation into functional, manufacturable assemblies through both CAD and hands-on physical prototyping.

How will you create impact?

  • Translate early concepts, play patterns, and sketches into functional engineering solutions through rapid prototyping.

  • Design and develop complex mechanical systems and mechanism architectures.

  • Create robust, parametric CAD models and assemblies, balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Build and iterate proof-of-concept and works-like prototypes using 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication methods.

  • Integrate basic mechatronic elements (motors, sensors, controls) to validate functionality.

  • Identify technical risks early, troubleshoot issues, and drive rapid iteration cycles to find viable solutions.

  • Influence product architecture and key engineering decisions early in development to accelerate timelines.

  • Support the transition from prototype to production by applying DFMA principles and aligning designs with manufacturing processes.

What are your skills and experience?

  • Previous experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Industrial Design, with a strong focus on mechanism prototyping.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop complex mechanical systems from concept through functional validation.

  • Strong proficiency in parametric CAD (Onshape is preferred; SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor are also valuable).

  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools and methods, including 3D printing and machining.

  • A strong understanding of manufacturing processes (DFMA), including plastics, injection molding, and assembly methods.

  • Experience in consumer products, toys, robotics, or electromechanical systems is an asset.

  • Experience with CNC and CAM programming is a plus.

  • A solid foundation in mechatronics and basic electronics is highly desirable.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and within North America as needed.
