Design, test, improve, and support equipment designed by MiTek for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers to improve their production output. Mechanical Engineers will design, document, and troubleshoot all components such as overall machine design, structural frames, mechanical power transmission, and manufacturability of machinery. You will design the full mechanical assembly of the automated machine and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Mechanical Engineers work closely with Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers, and various other teams such as Production, Software, Customer Service to ensure a successful product.Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus in the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry
Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation
Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)
Lead mechanical team members through staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)
Lead team members through troubleshooting, root cause and corrective actions
Design, integrate, test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices
Design, integrate, test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Design, integrate, test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systems
Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)
Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery
Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)
Enter new or update existing data in MRP/ERP system
Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product’s lifecycle
Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
Mentor less experienced mechanical engineers and designers
Manage individual tasks while leading other mechanical and robotic engineers through project execution with minimal oversight
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required
8+ years of mechanical engineering design experience required
Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
Strong understanding of strength of materials, statics, and dynamics
Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD Mechanical
Proficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysis
Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems
Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders
