These systems include Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems, Flight Control Actuators, Utility Hydraulic Actuators, and Hydraulic Power Generation Systems. The role involves applying advanced engineering principles to create robust, certifiable, and cost-effective solutions across the full product lifecycle—from concept to production support and in-service reliability. The engineer ensures designs meet performance, safety, certification, weight, and durability requirements while adhering to aerospace standards. This position also involves mentorship, technical reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to solve complex problems and establish best practices in hydraulic actuation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design System Components: Develop and optimize hydraulic components and assemblies, including actuator mechanisms, structural interfaces, sealing systems, and high-pressure fluid paths.

  • Lead Technical Projects: Manage and oversee engineering projects, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve project goals.

  • Solve Complex Engineering Problems: Perform critical analyses (stress, fatigue, tolerance stack-ups, failure modes, etc.) to address challenging technical issues and ensure reliable designs.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with analysis, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to integrate systems seamlessly into larger projects.

  • Mentor Junior Engineers: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to early- and mid-career engineers, fostering professional growth and team development.

  • Best Practices: Contribute to technical reviews and establish best practices within the hydraulic actuation discipline.

  • Testing & Support: Design and manufacture test equipment for in-plant use, support qualification testing, and assist in aftermarket services.

  • Customer and Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with external stakeholders to address technical challenges and improve solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, hydraulic systems, and related technologies.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Skilled in analyzing and resolving intricate technical issues using innovative approaches.

  • Project Leadership: Proficient in managing engineering projects, including resource coordination and timeline management.

  • Independent Work: Demonstrates autonomy in handling tasks and making informed decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Builds strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive success.

  • Consensus Building: Facilitates discussions and achieves agreement among diverse teams.

  • Best Practices Implementation: Experienced in integrating industry best practices into engineering processes.

  • Technical Communication: Communicates complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Mentorship: Guides and supports less experienced team members to enhance team capabilities.

  • Market Awareness: Understands competitive landscape and applies market knowledge to engineering strategies.

Successful Candidates Typically Have:

  • A four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • At least 4+ years of equivalent experience in aerospace or hydraulic systems engineering.
