About us

We are the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific and we are hiring a full-time Sr Material Handler for our Inbound Logistics team at the Loughborough site. As part of a dynamic, collaborative team, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth, efficient material handling within the warehouse, while delivering exceptional service to our clients.

LCD is committed to helping the fight against COVID-19. Our chemicals are critical components in personal and laboratory sanitizers and disinfectants, COVID-19 diagnostic testing, virus research and vaccine work. We serve academic, commercial, contract research organization (CRO), industry and government customers in diverse markets and we have a proven track record in handling dangerous goods globally across the chemical supply chain.

Working hours:

  • Standard: Monday – Friday, 38 hours per week

  •  start time :  8.00 am – 4.00 pm

  • Overtime opportunities offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage inbound deliveries, ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and overseeing stock put-away operations.

  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Health & Safety policies.

  • Master drum cleaning, chemical sampling and tanker offloading processes to ensure efficient operations. Must be willing to train on all areas of I.B.L including Drum wash ,tanker offload ,Sampling  and be willing to cover Inbound function on both BMR and BWR sites

  • Deliver raw materials and packaging to production areas according to daily schedules.

  • Investigate and resolve any delivery discrepancies.

  • Assist with other inventory management tasks as needed.

Candidate requirements:

  • Eager to learn and committed to long-term skill development with Thermo Fisher Scientific.

  • Familiar with or willing to train on counterbalance, reach truck, and VNA (flexi) vehicles.

  • Familiarity with warehouse systems and experience with inventory control  is beneficial.

  • Capable of accurately following procedures and guidelines.

  • Strong command of English with good reading, math, and attention to detail for accurate data recording.

  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety and Dangerous Goods handling is a plus.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while effectively sharing ideas for improvement.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with proven problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various internal stakeholders.

  • Flexible to work at both Loughborough sites as needed.

  • Full clean driving license.

Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Full training provided, including forklift certification and system training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting materials up to 25kg.
