Act as a Consultant in safety consulting projects, including but not limited to:
On-site Construction Safety Management (primary responsibility): Oversee on-site safety management of construction projects, including formulating construction safety plans, supervising the implementation of safety measures, conducting on-site safety inspections, and promptly rectifying potential safety hazards to ensure compliance with construction safety regulations and prevent safety accidents.
Health & Safety Compliance Audits across various industries, with a focus on construction engineering projects to ensure alignment with national and local construction safety standards.
Health & Safety Management System Reviews for construction projects, including OHSAS/ISO 45001 frameworks, tailored to the characteristics of construction safety management.
Safety Culture Improvement Initiatives in teams, including leadership engagement, on-site safety training, and workforce safety awareness programs to build a strong safety culture in construction sites.
Classroom-based Safety Training and on-site Field Coaching for workers and on-site management personnel, focusing on construction-specific safety knowledge, operational specifications, and emergency response skills.
Safety Culture Surveys and data interpretation for projects, identifying gaps in on-site safety management and proposing targeted improvement measures.
Workshop Facilitation for clients’ EHS and operational teams in projects, assisting clients in solving practical construction safety problems and improving construction safety management capabilities.
Support business development activities related to EHS consulting, with an emphasis on construction engineering safety consulting services to expand related business opportunities.
Responsibilities
Independently manage the full lifecycle of safety consulting projects, including formulating construction safety plans, allocating on-site consulting resources, tracking the progress of on-site safety management work, and final delivery, ensuring all project objectives are met on time, within budget, and in line with client construction safety requirements and ERM’s service standards.
Proactively engage with the clients to identify their evolving construction safety management needs (e.g., on-site safety rectification, safety system improvement, worker safety training) and potential opportunities for project scope expansion or service upgrades during the project lifecycle. This includes recognizing opportunities beyond the job holder’s technical expertise or the current project scope, and promptly advising the Project Manager (PM) or Person in Charge (PIC) to explore and leverage such opportunities.
Coordinate with internal ERM teams (including technical specialists, junior consultants, and support staff) and client’s construction site teams (including construction managers, safety officers, and workers) to ensure seamless collaboration, resolve construction safety-related project bottlenecks (e.g., safety hazard rectification, safety standard implementation), and maintain consistent service quality throughout the delivery process.
Monitor construction safety project performance against key metrics (e.g., client satisfaction, on-site safety hazard rectification rate, delivery timeliness, quality of construction safety deliverables) and proactively implement corrective actions if deviations occur, ensuring the project meets or exceeds client expectations for construction safety management.
Prepare and present regular project progress reports focusing on construction safety to clients and internal stakeholders, clearly communicating project status, construction safety achievements, on-site safety challenges, and mitigation plans in a professional and concise manner.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline, preferably in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering or other construction-related majors.
8+ years of experience in EHS management, with at least 3 years of experience in construction engineering safety management or construction EHS consulting, preferably within the chemical manufacturing and/or EHS consulting industry.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety requirements and regulations across a broad range of industries, with a focus on national and local construction safety regulations, standards and norms (e.g., Construction Safety Inspection Standards, Regulations on Work Safety in Construction Projects).
Strong familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements to support the clients to identify safety risks (e.g., Hoisting, Temporary electricity, Work at Height), and develop and implement practical construction safety risk-mitigation solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively communicating with construction site management teams, workers and clients.
Good English proficiency is an advantage, especially in reading and communicating construction safety-related English documents and reports.
Candidates holding a Certified Safety Engineer Certificate (Zhun An Zheng) will be a plus.
