Your Impact & Contributions

The Senior Manager – Human Resources will have organization wide responsibility for Employee Relations, Policies and Workplace Health & Safety including Employee Well-being. The Employee Relations Manager will facilitate and manage employee relations on behalf of CBA. Build strong relationships, partner, and collaborate with internal-stakeholders including the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and Compliance, Legal, Employment Law to ensure the right outcomes are achieved. Experience of managing the people implications of Employee Relation matters across employment law revisions, Employee Relation policy development, Employee Relation training development / upskilling and end to end change management. Responsible for investigations and management of matters that are raised to the Bank/Company, more specifically around conflict, bullying, discrimination, unfair treatment, workplace harassment, sexual harassment, performance management and any other work-related grievances.

The role position reports into the Executive Manager – Workplace Relations

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyses information and data necessary to define and discern policy implications. This may include management and proposals, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.

  • Review HR policies and formulate new/revised HR policies in close collaboration with the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and the Office of the Legal Advisor. Continually assess the adequacy of existing HR policies to meet the emerging workforce and programme needs.

  • Identifies the need for new and revised Staff Regulations and Rules, Administrative Directives, Information Circulars, etc. human resource policies and HR procedures tailored to the specific requirements of CBA environment.

  • Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After sensitizing the information, makes recommendations on changes.

  • Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.

  • Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.

  • Represents organization in contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labour organizations.

  • Collaborates with leadership on matters of policy and terms of memoranda of understanding before and throughout negotiation process.

  • Collaborates with legal counsel and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with employee and labour groups.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Thorough understanding of state laws concerning labour relations.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques.

  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations. 

Education and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources/Industrial Relation

  • Overall experience 10+ years with 6-8 years in an Employee Relations Role
