The Senior Manager, Supplier Quality & Development, is accountable for driving end-to-end supplier quality excellence across a large and complex supply base. The position oversees a multi-site team of Supplier Quality Development Engineers and leads initiatives to improve supplier performance, reduce waste, and lower total cost of ownership. The role is responsible for defining and executing supplier quality strategies, ensuring consistent implementation of quality standards (including the Supplier Quality Manual, PPAP, and process certification), and managing corrective actions to resolve systemic issues. It directly supports a global supplier base with significant annual expenditure, ensuring compliance, product quality, and on-time delivery performance.

As Senior Manager, Supplier Quality & Development, On a typical day you will:

  • Coordinating activities of a team of six (Florence location) and team of two (Bloomfield location) Supplier Quality Development Engineers driving Supplier improvements, eliminating waste, improving quality, performance and ultimately reducing costs.

  • Supporting quality initiatives at Supply base consisting of approximately 130 Suppliers; of which 80% are Domestic and 20% International. Total yearly spend for these suppliers is approximately $300M per year.

  • Defining, implementing and overseeing Quality improvement strategies across the Supply Base

  • Ensuring that our Supplier Quality Manual is properly implemented and maintained throughout the Supply Base.

  • Submitting, monitoring and evaluation of responses to corrective actions.

  • Qualification of parts throughout the Supply Base using the PPAP process.

  • Ensuring appropriate implementation of product changes at Supply Base.

  • Resolving issues reported from our customers related to the products manufactured by our suppliers and that they are timely addressed and responses are provided to customers.

  • Presenting quality progress to various levels of management at different forums among other activities or projects.

  • Managing supplier performance that impact key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality and factory disruption.

  • Ensuring the team is delivering on Cost of Poor-Quality projects to positively impact the COPQ KPI

  • Accountable for resolving systemic supplier quality and delivery problems to prevent production & projects interruptions, while ensuring high quality products. 

  • Support supply chain management activities: supply chain optimization and process improvement initiatives, including participation and action in programs designed for new product introduction or new equipment / factory projects.  

  • The managing of supplier part compliance and part KPI’s through Process Certification, PPAP and Corrective Action process using lean management tools and culture.

 

What You Will Need to be Successful:

  • BA/BS degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant Quality experience required including experience leading engineering teams focused on delivering on quality KPI’s

  • Extensive knowledge of ISO9001, UL and CSA audits, PFMEA, Control Plan, Containment Plans, APQP, PPAP, RRCA, Gage R&R, SPC, and Data Analysis

  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with lean manufacturing systems or Six Sigma

  • Program management skills and experience in supplier process improvements preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
