Mercy Health is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our high-performing Strategy & Planning team as Senior Manager, Strategy & Planning– Health Services. This is a pivotal role that supports the development and delivery of Health Services Strategy and leads coordination efforts across Mercy Health’s Local Health Service Networks (LHSNs).

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Strategy & Planning, this role provides strategic leadership across Mercy Health’s health services portfolio. In the first six months, your focus will be twofold:

  • Overseeing the development of the Health Services Strategy, which will be led by an external consultant. You will guide the process, ensure alignment with Mercy Health’s Strategic Framework, and facilitate engagement with internal stakeholders to shape a future-focused strategy that reflects sector trends and community needs.

  • Leading coordination efforts across Mercy Health’s two LHSNs, ensuring effective integration, collaboration, and alignment with each network’s Statement of Expectations and strategic priorities.

You will also support the implementation of Mercy Health’s Integrated Planning Approach, helping teams develop annual business plans and KPIs that drive performance and strategic outcomes. Your strategic advice will inform Executive and Board decision-making through high-quality briefing papers and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of the Health Services Strategy in partnership with an external consultant

  • Lead internal coordination and engagement across Mercy Health’s LHSNs

  • Support integrated planning and business performance across Health Services

  • Provide strategic advice and reporting to Executive and Board audiences

  • Contribute to key strategic initiatives and projects

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in health services management, strategy and planning, or a related field

  • Proven leadership experience in complex organisational settings (e.g. public health, government, large NFPs)

  • Strong commercial acumen and exceptional business writing skills

  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development, execution, and performance monitoring

  • Ability to prepare high-impact reports and business cases for Executive and Board audiences

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
