This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Structural Heart division. Structural Heart Business Mission: Why We Exist 

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease. 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Provides vision, leadership and direction to the division Supply Chain Commodity Management Organization. This position supports team(s) of Buyers and Commodity Managers, who select global strategic suppliers, negotiate large complex development and supply contracts, develop supply chain commodity management strategies, prepare cost analysis, negotiate and manage contracts, and manage supplier relations. Additionally, this position needs to work directly with Program Management, engineers and engineering management to create an effective supply chain for new products. This position provides strategic leadership to multiple sites regarding broad purchasing policies and practices in support of quality, cost and technology. This position provides support in the analysis of potential acquisitions and acquisition's supply chain risks. This position also partners with Supply Chain Project leaders in the support of special projects and improvement objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and guide implementation of commodity management strategies which support business growth and profitability objectives.

• Support annual operating plan and strategic planning processes. Develop and lead long-term, customer focused supply chain solutions (VMI, Kanban, Supplier Portals,).

• Leverages core business systems (SAP) and various software technologies to provide continuous improvements.

• Lead the development and redesign of processes that optimize carrying cost, operational cost, obsolescence cost, and service levels.

• Develop and advance sourcing and supply strategies throughout each stage of the product lifecycle, including new product launch planning and execution through to product rationalization and end of life.

• Collaborate with Supplier Development team to drive down cost and risk, while improving quality.

• Partner with manufacturing staff to ensure that strategic and tactical business decisions are made with a full understanding of current and future sourcing strategies.

• Optimize sourcing infrastructure to support global factory initiatives including country localization.

• Manage supplier communication flow in and out of the company for responsible commodities.

• Support the global team responsible for achieving commitments to inventory management, capacity planning, demand forecasting, demand management, supply planning, new product launch planning, obsolescence management, product availability & delivery performance throughout the global supply chain. • Support activities across multiple manufacturing sites and distribution centers which directly impact product availability and customer service level.

• Optimize overall inventory strategies with suppliers.

• Effectively negotiate and facilitate win-win solutions with suppliers throughout the global supply chain • Utilizes market trends and internal/external competitive benchmarks to influence supply chain solutions.

• Defines supply chain capabilities to meet current and future business/customer requirements and collaborate with internal and external service providers to secure these capabilities

• Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

• Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or related field.

Masters Degree (± 18 years) engineering, business or supply chain Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years Progressively responsible experience in materials management/purchasing.
  • 5+ years planning, engineering, or leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
  • 7 years’ experience managing a team
  • 7 years’ experience working in a highly regulated environment and proven familiarity with applicable regulations.
  • 5 years’ experience working with MRP, DRP, ERP, forecasting, inventory management within SAP or similar system software.
  • Experience negotiating terms with vendors, suppliers and contractors. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrix’ed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment. Strong verbal and written communications to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned. Ability to travel approximately 10% - 25%, including internationally
  • Preferred Lean and six sigma experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of end to end supply chain management concepts including MRP, DRP, ERP, forecasting, inventory management within SAP or similar system
  • Flexible and adaptable to change - does not require rigid rules; function in an fast pace environment
  • Highly Collaborative - partner with colleagues and customers to arrive at best solutions Excellent and proactive communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to drive change throughout the global supply chain.
  • Experience in organizations with low volume and high mix product families. Medical device or related industry experience is preferred.

The base pay for this position is

$129,300.00 – $258,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
