Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading global investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and retail investors. In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada’s largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

Directly supporting a senior executive, provides a diverse range of analytical research, strategic and/or operational support and acts as the representative of the executive on a broad range of matters as assigned.  The position requires an effective communicator, providing decision support and insight to leaders, and discreetly manages matters that are both sensitive and highly confidential in nature.

CUSTOMER

  • Conduct research, analysis and prepare briefings, coordinating communication efforts, anticipating and managing both short to longer term objectives/ outcomes/ initiatives and maintaining an understanding of TDBG strategies and direction
  • Provide expertise and support the planning / decision support process for a diverse portfolio of activities, coordinating with a variety of internal stakeholders on behalf of the executive
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with leaders, business heads and partners across the business / function and other corporate functions
  • Organize and participate in management and/or Board committees and/or similar forums providing necessary research, analysis and recommendations for planning and decision support purposes on behalf of the executive 
  • Brief executive in advance of meetings and presentations; agendas and invitees assembled, pre-read material prepared and distributed in consultation with TDBG executives, minutes or previous discussions prepared and distributed
  • Provide the executive with an overview of key management information, discussions and / or business issues in advance of business meetings and events, co-ordinate follow-up on outstanding issues as required

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for own business / function area
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensures alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Lead and / or participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

BREADTH AND DEPTH

  • Typically reports to a TDBG EVP
  • Highly seasoned specialist role requiring substantial knowledge/expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
  • Accountability areas include advice, counsel, influence, relationships and oversight, and special projects
  • Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices
  • Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions
  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required
  • 10+ years relevant experience
