Position Summary...

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who can drive design, architecture & delivery of mission-critical Inventory Management platforms that power Walmart ecommerce sites globally. You will be challenged with complex business problems that span large number of users & data and own platforms that enable multi-billion-dollar businesses for Walmart. You will deliver platform capabilities in a fast-paced environment, that will significantly complement your learning and leadership skills.

What you'll do...

About the team

International Inventory & Availability team owns core platforms that power inventory availability for Walmart Ecommerce. This team owns delivery of high scale platform that powers inventory across the customer experience (search, browse, cart, checkout and post purchase). The platforms we develop are deployed across many Walmart's markets, including the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Chile, and are designed to support high-scale, low-latency tier 0 traffic requirements.

What You’ll Do (3 to 5 brief pointers about the roles and responsibility)

  • You will be responsible for building and scaling the Inventory Management  platform, that powers inventory management for ecommerce across Walmart, leading a team of 10+ software engineers
  • You will responsible for platform enhancements and upholding engineering and operational excellence of multiple tier 0/1 platform areas.
  • You will help define Technical Roadmap and own the entire product delivery end to end.
  • Lead and direct large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; directing and reviewing
  • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with product, engineering and management teams across different geographic locations
  • Support business objectives by collaborating with business partners to define priorities, identify opportunities and drive resolutions
  • Hire, develop and retain a strong team of software engineers.

What You’ll bring

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in leading delivery of highly scalable distributed applications and platforms. Minimum of 5 years of leading medium sized teams.
  • Hands on experience in Microservices, RESTful services development in Java Spring Boot or equivalent framework). Experience in architecting SQL and NoSQL based high scale systems (Cosmos DB, Cassandra, Oracle or equivalent). Good knowledge in messaging systems (e.g. Kafka). In depth experience of Cloud Native and Microservice architectures.
  • Strong experience in managing team performance and career growth
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills - including negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
  • Champion the use of AI copilots and agent-based automation in team workflows, Experience in AI, Gen AI, LLM’s and Agentic systems a bonus.
