job purpose: The Senior Manager, Safety and Compliance, Capital Projects will be a key part of the fairlife Corporate EHS Team working directly within our Capital Projects team. The primary objective of this role is to protect the health and well-being of all personnel on our project jobsites by ensuring strict compliance with EHS regulations. They will act as a vital bridge between project management and field crews to foster a culture of accountability and proactive risk prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value, achieving world-class performance in support of highly efficient, low-cost operations via a Zero incident mindset.  In addition, they’ll act as a Safety SME, they will provide deep, specialized knowledge to guide strategy, influence policy, and solve complex hazard challenges for our organization in alignment with our corporate policies and common practices. 

 

responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, emergency protocols, and hazard mitigation strategies before and during all project phases. Review the plan regularly with the General Contractors (GCs) and Project team for any necessary updates 
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations, including Coca-Cola KORE requirements and all applicable reporting submissions. Maintain uptodate knowledge of regulatory changes and communicate impacts to project leadership 
  • Provide safetybydesign guidance during engineering and preconstruction phases, advising leadership and design teams on riskreduction strategies, code requirements, and safe constructability considerations 
  • Partner with GCs to develop effective contractor safety orientations, recurring "toolbox talks," and specialized training on equipment operation and personal protective equipment (PPE). Revise processes and procedures as necessary to improve program effectiveness and support a zero-incident objective 
  • Lead investigations of injuries, environmental events, property damage, and nearmiss incidents using structured rootcause analysis. Develop and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence and share lessons learned across teams 
  • In partnership with FCs, maintain a strong field presence by conducting site walkthroughs to monitor work practices, housekeeping, and evolving hazards. Provide coaching, mentoring, and realtime feedback to reinforce safe behaviors and support a proactive safety culture 
  • Partner with project managers and subcontractors to align safety goals with production schedules and budgets, ensuring safety considerations are embedded in operational decisions 
  • Lead internal and external audits for inspections of tools, machinery, and working conditions to identify and address deficiencies and ensure adherence to federal, state and local standards 
  • Act as the "go-to" person for interpreting complex regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001) and resolving technical safety issues by providing technical guidance and support across the enterprise 
  • Lead advanced risk assessments, hazard analyses, and root cause investigations for high-consequence incidents (e.g. FMEA, PHA, HAZOP, Fault Tree Analysis) throughout all phases of a project, ensuring implementation of mitigation measures 
  • Develop, write, review, and approve technical safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, confined space entry, hot work, and process hazard controls, ensuring procedures and protocols are tailored to specific conditions through the project/site 

 

skills/qualifications required: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, related field or at least 7 - 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for a Construction Safety professional/ Safety SME in an industrial/manufacturing setting 
  • Professional certifications in EHS-related fields are considered beneficial and may include Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), OSHA 30-Hr Construction Safety Certification, NFPA 70E Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP), National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) 
  • Skilled in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and meeting critical deadlines with the ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information while making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments with this information 
  • Ability to translate highly technical safety data into actionable insights for both executives and floor-level staff while also identifying and mitigating obscure and high-hazard risks 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations with a strong return on investment mindset for all EHS initiatives 
  • Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures 
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state environmental laws, regulations, procedures, and standards

  • 12 hours sitting/standing/walking 
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. 
  • Reaching/bending/ kneeling requirements occasionally (1% - 33% of the time) 
  • Exposure to hazards (machinery, confined spaces, etc.) frequently (34% - 66% of the time) 
  • Specific atmospheric conditions: wet and/ or humid, temperature changes, noise, fumes/ odors, dirt/ dust and gases 
  • Any other physical requirements: climbing stairs, driving occasionally

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety 
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas 
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company 
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system 
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system 
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming products in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected 
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required
