What you'll be doing

The Retail Account Acquisition team is responsible for developing new account risk strategies to balance growth of the business within acceptable levels of credit risk. By analyzing application information, Bank data for existing clients, credit bureaus, and account performance data, the team implements changes to the application processing systems and makes credit adjudication decisions when the system cannot incorporate all the relevant factors.

As the Senior Manager, Real Estate Secured Lending Policy and Regulatory Initiatives, you will oversee a team of Analysts responsible for monitoring the RESL portfolio and managing RESL policies, including enhancements and the rollout of policy changes. Your role will include leading regulatory initiatives to ensure their effective implementation and ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will be accountable for developing and maintaining policy and regulatory documentation to facilitate clear and precise communication. You will also establish and supervise business processes, risk controls, and key performance metrics to ensure operational success.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Effective Communication – Convey complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to interpret, analyze, and articulate conclusions. Provide credit risk management expertise and guidance to business partners, especially when developing operational processes that minimize future credit risk issues and lower the bank’s risk profile.

  • Project Management – Manage multiple and competing priorities, ensuring timely delivery of projects. Set priorities, oversee multiple teams, and communicate timelines, dependencies, milestones, and project impacts to stakeholders, partners, and senior leadership.

  • Business Analysis – Identify and analyze problems, recommend and develop effective solutions, and support reporting and analysis using statistical knowledge. Develop risk segmentation strategies for acquisition and automated decision systems, review monthly portfolio reports, determine key risk trends, and provide commentary to the Senior Director, Real Estate Secured Lending.

  • Agility & Adaptability – Prioritize ongoing deliverables alongside ad-hoc, audit, and urgent executive requests, working effectively under tight deadlines. Contribute to team training to enhance technical, business, and risk knowledge within Real Estate Secured Lending.
