The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
The job will also support the International Space Station Exploration Ground Systems, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
- These tasks will support NASA’s return to the moon as part of the Artemis Program.
- Provides leadership to the Quality Team supporting NASA's Space Launch System, International Space Station, Launch Service Provider.
- Internal Audit maintains compliance with AS9100D.
- Quality Engineering develops and executes processes that maintain and monitor the use of calibration equipment, enable quality planning for work execution, monitor non-conformances, establish corrective and preventive action, review acceptance data packages, support still imagery, and monitor foreign object debris prevention.
- Software Assurance develops and executes processes detailing safety software assessments of critical systems, monitor verification and validation of the Launch Control System and ensuring compliance with a CMMI ML3 software development process.
- Supplier Quality develops and executes processes to flow down supplier requirements, perform supplier quality audits and carry out supplier source inspections.
- Inspection performing receiving, flight hardware manufacturing, and work execution acceptance on flight hardware and ground support equipment.
- Develops and implements Quality goals, policies, priorities, and procedures.
- Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules develops solutions to program problems and directs work of incumbents assigned to program from various departments.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Acts as advisor to program team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
- Manages resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints and contributes to the overall success of the company by providing a motivated and productive staff.
- Establishes and assesses quality performance criteria in the execution of Program requirements.
- Develops/establishes/maintains processes and metrics that support contract and AS9100 requirements.
- Establishing personal networks benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by mentoring team members and documenting quality processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university field plus ten (10) years of progressive and relevant experience.
- Additional relevant education may be substituted for progressive experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
- Excellent Excel skills to manipulate and analyze data to generate reports in a variety of formats.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
Essential Functions :
- Physical Requirements
- Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structure
- Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment :
- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position may require individuals to travel to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
- Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company
- safety standards.
Attendance:
- Fulltime regular work hours between Monday- Friday.
- Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions:
- Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
- Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
- This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
- In some cases, accommodation can be made for POV, if necessary.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
- Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, coworkers, and management.
