What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Program Delivery, will play a pivotal role in driving horizontal planning, prioritization and portfolio management across the Controls Monitoring, Business Risk Management, and Industry and Regulatory Engagement functions within Regulatory Strategy & Delivery.
You will lead and drive the team’s portfolio by fostering effective planning, prioritization, business management, project and management reporting. You will help drive internal process improvement, by driving the delivery of meaningful outcomes that align with RBC’s long-term strategic objectives.
Programs include: Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) 239, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Cost of Borrowing (COB), Financial Consumer Protection Framework (FCPF), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Risk Appetite.
Please note, this is hybrid role. The expectation is that the incumbent will work a minimum of 4 days in the office.
What will you do?
Using Agile methodologies, lead and facilitate team planning, prioritization and portfolio management to deliver results, triage issues, and drive progress on horizontal workflow, ensuring effective coordination and accountability.
Develop stakeholder engagement models to support key relationships across teams to execute against portfolio and project deliverables, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and fostering collaboration across stakeholders.
Contribute to senior management materials preparation, including executive level audiences, ensuring clear, concise, and impactful communication of portfolio and project updates, risks, and key decisions.
Support portfolio, project, management and ad-hoc reporting and roadmaps across the team, to inform data driven strategic decision making and to ensure alignment, tracking and consistent communication and transparency against Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Maintain portfolio and project plans to ensure tasks are on track, key milestones are achieved and proactively identifying and resolving potential roadblocks.
Facilitate prioritization, issue resolution, escalations, interdependencies and pipeline backlog to ensure effective and timely portfolio and project delivery, governance and capacity planning.
Provide leadership and guidance, fostering a culture of optimal operational efficiency, continuous improvement, innovation & automation, and collaboration within the Controls Monitoring, Business Risk Management and Industry & Regulatory Engagement team.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
5+ years managing cross-functional projects, developing and communicating metrics/KPIs to support strategic initiatives, with expertise in planning and maintaining integrated program schedules, roadmaps, and status reports.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong risk management knowledge, particularly regulatory risk, focusing on risk and control identification/assessment across the risk lifecycle. Experience with Regulatory programs is an asset.
Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate, partner and influence senior business stakeholders, project managers, team members across all lines of defense, including risk partners (e.g., Operational Risk, GRM, Internal Audit, etc.).
Advanced proficiency in management reporting and process flowing including the use of tools such as Excel (pivot tables, lookups), PowerPoint (strong storyboarding of executive presentations), Visio, Tableau (design concepts).
Proven complex problem-solving and project management skills, including ability to direct teams, navigate ambiguity, and leverage delivery frameworks for successful outcomes.
Nice-to-have:
Understanding of Agile principles, Scrum or SAFe framework, and Kanban practices.
Project Management /Risk Management certifications.
Operations, Risk Management, Strategy, and/or Business Model/Architecture background.
Experience creating and maintaining dashboards and automation/enterprise tools such as VBA, Macros, PowerBI, or Tableau and hands-on SAS/Python skills.
