Senior Manager, Product Safety & Compliance

Responsible for leading the enforcement and management of compliance programs such as BABA (Build America, Buy America), LEED, DOT specifications, and product safety. This role ensures all private brand and sourced products meet federal, state, and safety requirements, manages regulatory submissions, maintains documentation integrity, and drives cross-functional collaboration to support evolving compliance standards and product safety initiatives. This role also oversees the Field Service team to ensure machine certifications, operation, and trainings meet business and industry requirements. 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Owns BABA, LEED, DOT, and product safety compliance programs for all private brand and sourced products, ensuring all products meet appropriate origin, material, cost, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinates new and existing product specification submissions with Product Engineering and Category Management to ensure alignment with customer and market requirements.

  • Reviews, determines, and maintains compliance and safety status for existing products.

  • Coordinates with sourcing, engineering, and suppliers to collect and verify compliance and safety documentation (Certificates of Origin, Material Declarations, Test Reports, Safety Data Sheets), ensuring alignment on specifications, documentation, and product safety needs.

  • Oversee field service team to ensure machine audits, maintenance, and upgrades are compliant to applicable certification requirements and business needs; Ensuring training and operation is adhering to necessary safety requirements.

  • Maintains current knowledge of evolving compliance and safety standards (e.g., BABA sourcing thresholds, DOT material specifications, LEED content limits, product safety regulations).

  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of technical data, materials, product requirements, and safety information in submissions.

  • Serves as the liaison between internal teams and external agencies (DOT, third-party labs, regulatory bodies), tracking submission progress, and approvals; escalates delays or non-conformances.

  • Maintains and updates compliance approvals, certifications, and product safety documentation.

  • Maintains centralized repository and document control practices for compliance and safety documents (specifications, BABA letters, LEED letters, certificates, safety records) in SharePoint to ensure audit readiness; transitions to PLM.

  • Develops and maintains templates for spec submissions, compliance statements, and safety forms.

  • Communicate updates or changes in compliance and product safety standards to relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, product safety, or product engineering. 

  • Proven experience leading multiple teams or a larger compliance function. 

  • Strong ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage complex projects. 

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Proficient in MS Office and document management systems (SharePoint, PLM).

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, product safety, or product engineering.

  • Advanced leadership training or certifications.

  • Advanced degree in engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Experience with construction materials, industrial products and product safety programs.

  • Knowledge of BABA, LEED, DOT specifications, and product safety regulations.

This position may be remote, hybrid, or onsite based on location. Eligible candidates residing in the greater Atlanta area will be asked to work two days a week in our Doraville, GA Field Support Center. Eligible candidate residing in certain other areas will be asked to work full-time in our offices.
