Senior Manager, Private Payer Strategy & Engagement

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to drive AstraZeneca Canada's private payer market access strategy? As the Senior Manager, Private Payer Strategy and Engagement, you'll lead enterprise-wide initiatives and engage directly with private payer customers. This hybrid role offers a dynamic mix of strategic development and customer interaction, ensuring optimal reimbursement and coverage for AstraZeneca's portfolio within private payer markets.

Accountabilities:

In this multifaceted role, you'll blend high-level strategy with hands-on stakeholder engagement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering AstraZeneca's above-brand private payer market access strategy, including portfolio assessment, pre-launch planning, and submissions strategies for assigned therapies.
  • Balancing head office strategic priorities with field-based engagement, working directly with private payer customers and using market insights.
  • Identifying and implementing innovative private payer solutions to advance enterprise-wide objectives and optimize portfolio reimbursement.
  • Creating cross-functional roadmaps for enhancing private payer coverage, collaborating with other teams to align objectives and execution.
  • Building strong relationships with internal colleagues and external private payer partners; collaborating with reimbursement experts and industry association groups to ensure relevance and impact.
  • Leading select private payers as defined by the Director, BBU Market Access Strategy & Private Payers.
  • Monitoring private payer trends and dynamics to inform strategic recommendations and anticipate market shifts.
  • Collaborating actively within the private payer team to ensure seamless execution of access strategies and facilitate customer engagement.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced degree in science or business (MSc, MBA, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of private payer markets, reimbursement systems, and pricing/access strategies in Canada.
  • Understanding of Canadian Market Access Environment and experience in translating strategy into execution with external partners.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in market access, strategy or related stakeholder management within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrated success synthesizing information from diverse sources and formulating actionable strategies, particularly in ambiguous or complex settings.
  • Track record of converting strategic solutions into customer engagement to deliver business results.
  • Experience in customer-facing role(s), track record of engaging with external stakeholders to achieve business results.
  • Sharp analytical thinking and commercial acumen!
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and influence others—both internally and externally—to achieve business results and implement change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with adaptive written and presentation abilities to connect with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, peers, and external private payer partners.
  • Adept at managing change, guiding partners and collaborators through new ways of working, and overcoming resistance to novel approaches or solutions.
  • Results-oriented mentality, with a track record of translating customer engagement into measurable business outcomes for the organization.
