Position Overview
As a Senior Manager, Operations Accounting, you will be responsible for managing accounting related activities for multiple entities. This role will oversee all tasks necessary to ensure compliance with relevant agreements, GAAP and other regulatory requirements, and will support in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statement schedules, annual compilation of footnotes, miscellaneous financial reporting requests, and annual audits. This position will lead a team of Accountants based in Chicago, IL and work closely with the various accounting and tax consultants, contractors, and third-party service providers.
Additionally, the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting will be expected to assist in leading the training and development of staff both in system functionality as well as accounting concepts. This will include leading daily, weekly, or monthly team meetings as needed.
Finally, the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting will be expected to own and/or back up one or more Oracle modules such as AR, AP, Fixed Assets, etc. as well as identify, propose, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and/or accuracy of accounting operations. Individual must be a self-starter, well organized, possess excellent computer skills, and be able to multi-task.
Responsibilities
Effectively lead, develop, and manage Accounting Staff, including leading recurring team meetings to ensure clear communication of priorities and responsibilities.
Execution of accurate and timely month-end and year-end close utilizing the ERP and reporting systems.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of account reconciliations and financial activity, including cash, receivable billings & collections, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
Lead and participate in year-end statutory audits for assigned project entities.
Assist in the development and maintenance of strong accounting policies and procedures.
Assist in the adoption and implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
Ensure compliance with internal control processes.
Own or back up one or more Oracle modules such as AR, AP, Fixed Assets, etc
Assist in the creation of efficiencies in accounting processes by implementing process improvements, technology driven solutions and automation. Partner with Financial Systems to ensure all financial systems are properly operating to capture and produce timely and accurate information and support the company’s growth.
Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time-to-time.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years of management experience
In depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Technologically-savvy, with very strong Microsoft Office skills and experience, particularly in Excel and Word
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
Multi-Site Organization, SEC Company or Public Accounting firm experience preferred; CPA with a blend of Big 4 and Utility industry experience is a plus.
Experience using Oracle Fusion, and/or demonstrated mastery of complex Accounting ERP systems.
Highly analytical, detail oriented and strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including ability to communicate proficiently with all levels of Management.
Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines
Strong coordination / organizational skills with attentiveness to timelines
Responsible, motivated, reliable, strategic thinker, exceptional work ethic.
Base Pay
130,000.00 - 170,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 25% - 40%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
