Boeing Aerospace OperationsBoeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking Senior Manager of Site Materials Management and Tooling to support our business in San Antonio, TX.
The candidate(s) will support the Boeing San Antonio Site Leadership Team and manage key Materials Management (MMO) and Tooling teams – Materials Management (both hourly coordinators and salaried analysts) and Tooling (both hourly tools crib attendants and salaried compliance coordinators, and site FOD & Tool Control focal). Supporting F18/C17/F15/E4B/VC25-A, VC25-B and AWACS and various other Material and Tools rooms . In addition, the MMO and Tooling teams will partner with operations and other functional support teams to ensure site initiatives are deployed effectively.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages employees and first-level managers performing advanced technical knowledge and leadership to resolve production concerns such as parts and tooling shortages. Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.
Knowledge of suppliers' capabilities to support Boeing production includes, but are not limited to production, technical, service and design management. Also included are knowledge of business systems, organizational structure, manufacturing processes, risk mitigation, capacity planning, past/present delivery performance, design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, and supplier data.
Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
Knowledge of Lean principles, processes and tools (i. e. Continuous Flow, Accelerated Improvement Workshop, Value Stream Analysis, Takt Time, etc.). Knowledge of how to apply principles, processes and tools to various work environments to enable implementation of enterprise wide Boeing Production System (Toyota Production System).
Forecasts resource needs and obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements. Acquires, deploys and schedules personnel to meet project and operational objectives. Reviews, approves and implements facility, equipment and service plans to maximize productivity and ensure safety, security, environmental and regulatory compliance.
Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Recognizes contributions of individuals and teams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce.
Proactively communicates with employees, peers (e.g., fellow first-level managers) and customers.
Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions.
Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations.
Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
This position may require the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post Start may be required.
Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements will be required for this position.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
10+ years of stockroom/crib procedures experience
5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of experience working with large aircraft Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) inspections
Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime. Some positions may also be rotating shifts
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in a role requiring the purchasing of tooling/material and Management of day to day activities in a tool/material room
Experience using CribMaster or GoldEsp or related Applications
Boeing Materials/Tooling related policy and procedures experience
LEAN Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Tier I & II & III and Integrated Product Team concepts and team dynamics, etc
5+ years of experience conducting Compliance, Foreign Object Debris (FOD), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Tool Control and/or Audit assessments
