Job Description

SUMMARY

ResMed is looking for a Senior Manager to provide leadership for our Americas Accounting and Treasury Team.  This person will be a key member of ResMed’s Global Accounting team and you’ll be supporting strategies that prioritize timely and accurate financial reporting, team development, scalability, automation, and value creation.

Let’s Talk About You and Your Responsibilities

 

o   Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process including analytical review of operational results to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

o   Ensure robust processes are in place over review of journal entries and account reconciliations that support the close process and period ending balances.

o   Accountable for the monthly and quarterly review of key accounting processes, including the rebate and chargeback accruals, contra revenue adjustments, bad debt and loss pool reserves, and excess and obsolescence (E&O) reserves.

o   Foster a team environment that encourages trust, accountability and excellence in delivery. Attract, develop, motivate, and retain talent within own team and at times in the broader Corporate Accounting team.

o   Possess strong leadership skills as demonstrated by the ability to identify, manage and develop staff and managers as you will be directly supervising manager/supervisor/individual contributor level employees within a sub-department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

o   Responsible for leadership of treasury and cash management for the local entities to ensure adequate cash reserves to meet the needs of the business. Oversees cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances and minimize FX exposure for LatAm entities.

o   Provide accounting expertise, analysis and reporting to regional operations and executive management.

o   Work with FP&A team to support new business developments and discussions.

o   Identify, propose, and drive strategies for automation and process improvements and work with FTO office on RPA opportunities.

o   Accountable for applying the revenue recognition policy and criteria for the region, as well as all other polices including capitalization, inventory obsolescence, warranty, sales returns, doubtful debt allowances, to ensure compliance with Corporate accounting policies and evolving GAAP.

o   Support and oversee updates to Finance and Accounting polices and approval hierarchies for the region.

o   Perform technical accounting research, author memos, and make recommendations regarding technical accounting issues, including the application of GAAP to the company specific transactions and accounts.

o   Monitor the ongoing relationship with external financial auditors and oversees the annual financial audit and quarterly reviews for the largest full in-scope audit entity.

o   Assist with M&A due diligence and oversee financial integrations of acquisitions.

o   Participate in global projects and serves as project leader and/or manager for certain global projects, as necessary.

 

Let’s Talk About Your Qualifications and Experiences

o   Bachelors’ degree in Accounting/Finance

o   A minimum of 7 years’ post-graduate experience, or equivalent experience. CPA required.

o   Four or more years of public company audit experience a plus.

o   Experience managing teams with varying levels of experience. Ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment, managing multiple and ever-changing priorities, while consistently meeting tight deadlines.

o   Skilled at growing team members for high performance, engagement, and the Accounting talent pipeline

o   Thorough knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accrual accounting, and internal controls over financial reporting.

o   Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills. Proactively address issues, own the outcome, and continuously strive for best in class processes and deliverables.

o   Experience with developing requirements, reviewing end-to-end processes, and contributing to and validating system design on implementations of enterprise financial reporting systems.

o   Exceptional partnering and influencing skills, using a transparent, consultative approach with business leaders, peers, and partners even without direct-line authority

o   Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent judgment, attention to detail, discretion

o   Comfortable working cross-boundary and geographies with knowledge and understanding of differing cultural perspectives

o   Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization, resource deployment, and risk assessment.

o   Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to elevate issues to the right level internally and externally to resolve.

o   Knowledge of ERP systems and computer applications (Oracle preferred)

o   Medical device and SaaS industry experience a plus.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills. 

At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current base range for this position: $144,000.00 - $216,000.00 USD Annual USD Annual
