Franklin Templeton is expanding its business in Japan by delivering a broader range of our global investment capabilities—built over more than 75 years—to a wider set of clients. In this environment, the Marketing team plays a critical role with the mission of enhancing our market presence and clearly communicating the value we deliver.

We are looking for a Senior Manager- Marketing to join the team in Japan. This position will sit at the core of that mission. You will lead the planning and execution of marketing campaigns that directly contribute to strengthening our brand and driving AUM growth The role offers significant autonomy and responsibility, spanning strategy development, execution, collaboration with local and global stakeholders, and helping to accelerate the firm’s growth in the Japanese market.

How You Will Add Value?

Planning and Execution of Marketing Campaigns:

  • Develop annual marketing strategies and initiatives, with a primary focus on the wealth retail market

  • Plan and execute promotional activities in collaboration with distributors (e.g., mutual fund campaigns, sales enhancement initiatives)

  • Define the key selling points of priority funds and develop promotional plans for distributors.

  • Design and implement integrated campaigns combining digital, advertising, events, and PR

  • Lead-generation activities, event planning, and strengthening of thought leadership for institutional clients

Branding and Public Relations:

  • Plan PR initiatives to strengthen brand awareness and engage with media partners

  • Localize global brand guidelines for the Japanese market

  • Support communication planning and media handling during visits by overseas executives

Digital Marketing:

  • Execute digital-led marketing campaigns using websites, social media, video, email, and other channels

  • Optimize marketing effectiveness through data analysis and by improving user pathways.

  • Plan and enhance marketing automation initiatives

Content Planning and Development:

  • Plan and structure marketing materials, including sales collateral, reports, and seminar decks

  • Edit and localize global (English) content for the Japanese market and manage overall creative direction

  • Identify, prioritize, and plan required content based on product strategy and market conditions

  • Enhance production efficiency by leveraging external partners and generative AI tools

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Respond to inquiries from distributors, FoF partners, and institutional clients regarding market or product topics

  • Collaborate closely with overseas marketing and investment teams (requiring English communication)

  • Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Investment, and Compliance teams

  • Manage projects related to campaign implementation and execution

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

Desired Profile:

  • Strong understanding of asset management and financial markets, with a desire to contribute to business growth through marketing

  • Motivation to plan and execute integrated marketing initiatives across multiple channels

  • Proactive engagement in digital and PR initiatives, with the ability to visualize and improve effectiveness

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with overseas teams

  • A mindset that embraces new approaches and challenges without being constrained by conventional thinking

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial service industry (investment management firm, securities firm, or bank) or a financial think tank

  • 5+ years of experience in a marketing and/or product-related role in the financial service industry including content creation and/or an investment professional role in an investment management firm

  • Experience in marketing campaign preferred

Expertise/Knowledge:

  • Expertise in investment management and financial markets

  • Basic knowledge of marketing of investment management business in Japan

  • Knowledge in alternative investments preferred

Competencies:

  • Ability to determine appropriate priorities using a logical approach when implementing marketing initiatives, take initiative from planning to execution, and carry out projects

  • Ability to analyze complex information and communicate key messages in a clear and concise manner

  • Self-starter with a strong goal-oriented and self-motivated mindset

  • Enthusiastic and flexible attitude with experience in working on a wide range of fields

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a flexible and proactive approach to resolving conflicts and overcoming challenges

PC and Language Skills:

  • Power Point: Ability to independently create 10-page materials (story structure, design, data gathering)

  • Excel: Advanced Excel functions, graph drawing, pivot tables, etc.

  • Data gathering: Ability to obtain data from Bloomberg, international organizations, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience with video editors, marketing automation (MA) tools, etc. preferred

  • Excellent business level communication skills in both Japanese and English

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Economics, Business Administration, Law, Science, Engineering, or other business related bachelor’s degrees preferred)

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • CFA, CMA, CAIA welcomed
