The Senior Manager will deliver fair and consistent underwriting decisions that are based on PHKL's Underwriting philosophy, deliver strong mortality results that are consistent with expectations, while maintaining a relentless Client Focus.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Support multiple distribution channels, including Bancassurance and Brokerage channels, by partnering closely with frontline sales teams.
    • Build, manage, and continuously strengthen trusted partnership relationships with bancassurance partners and brokers to ensure mutual alignment, effective collaboration, and consistent delivery of underwriting service excellence.
    • Provide high‑quality, responsive, and solution‑oriented underwriting services through clear, professional, and effective communication tailored to the needs and expectations of different sales channels.
    • Act as a key escalation point for complex or high‑value cases, balancing risk discipline with commercial awareness across bancassurance and brokerage business models.
    • Take ownership of underwriting‑related projects and initiatives, liaising with cross‑functional stakeholders (e.g. Operations, Product, Actuarial, Compliance, Distribution) to streamline and enhance underwriting processes, guidelines, service standards, management information, and analytics.
    • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, preparation of management reports, and identification of trends, risks, and opportunities across different channels and product segments.
    • Monitor, manage, and control underwriting and operational performance to ensure compliance with company rules, service standards, and regulatory requirements; participate in and support regular audit and review exercises.
    • Contribute actively to developing the underwriting team into a Centre of Competence in all areas of risk selection, providing coaching, training, guidance, and technical leadership to new and existing team members.
    • Perform timely, accurate, and comprehensive risk assessment on underwriting cases in accordance with assigned underwriting authority, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead and oversee end-to-end case management to ensure a smooth, efficient, and high‑quality underwriting process from submission to decision.
    • Sustain a strong Culture of Compliance, supporting a thorough and robust Client Due Diligence (CDD) process with clear documentation, audit‑ready records, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Solid track record in the underwriting field with minimum 10 years relevant experience in life insurance underwriting of which 5 years in supervisory role.
  • Professional qualification in Life Insurance including FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute)
  • Experience in operation management, business administration and client relationship management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • University Degree in any disciplines
  • Good command of English, Cantonese and Putonghua
