Job Description:

As Senior Manager of Portfolio Management, you will lead Envista’s enterprise portfolio governance function, ensuring technology and business initiatives are aligned to strategy, measurable outcomes, and financial discipline. This role sits within the IT organization and serves as the single point of accountability for managing the full portfolio of enterprise investments across Envista.

This role is also responsible for building and maturing Envista’s portfolio governance framework, ensuring it is designed and executed in alignment with Envista Business System (EBS) principles. The Director of Portfolio Management will drive visibility, prioritization, and execution accountability across the enterprise portfolio, balancing strategic priorities while improving delivery throughput, predictability, and transparency.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Enterprise Portfolio Strategy & Governance

  • Own and continuously improve Envista’s enterprise portfolio management framework including intake, prioritization, sequencing, and value tracking across Business and IT investments.
  • Design and implement portfolio governance processes aligned with Envista’s EBS framework, ensuring standardization, discipline, and continuous improvement in portfolio execution.
  • Partner with IT and Business leaders to define and execute the annual portfolio planning cycle, aligning initiatives to enterprise strategy and financial targets.
  • Lead portfolio governance cadences (e.g., portfolio review boards, strategic councils, executive steering committees) to ensure decisions are timely, well-informed, and outcome-driven.
  • Establish and enforce standards for portfolio classification, prioritization scoring, stage gates, and delivery readiness.

Demand Management & Prioritization

  • Build and lead a consistent demand intake and prioritization process across Envista.
  • Drive structured decision-making for tradeoffs between competing initiatives including capacity constraints, funding boundaries, and enterprise dependencies.
  • Ensure appropriate governance rigor exists before initiatives enter active execution.

Value Management & Financial Stewardship

  • Establish portfolio-level tracking including budget burn, forecast accuracy, benefits realization (hard/soft), schedule health, and risk exposure.
  • Ensure investment proposals include clear business cases, assumptions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance to improve forecasting quality and spend transparency across cost centers and programs.
  • Identify portfolio optimization opportunities to reduce waste, avoid duplication, and reprioritize underperforming investments.

Executive Reporting & Insights

  • Deliver executive-ready portfolio dashboards and narratives highlighting priorities, outcomes, risks, dependencies, and decision needs.
  • Convert complex portfolio data into clear insights for CIO staff meetings, business operating reviews, and enterprise leadership updates.
  • Maintain Envista’s portfolio “single source of truth” for roadmaps, investment status, and delivery performance.

Operating Model Enablement & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement of portfolio maturity, governance effectiveness, and decision velocity across the enterprise leveraging EBS continuous improvement practices.
  • Partner with PMO, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to strengthen portfolio throughput and predictability.
  • Promote standard tools, templates, and reporting approaches to improve transparency and consistency.

People Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of portfolio analysts/managers, setting clear performance expectations and development paths.
  • Create a high-accountability culture focused on partnership, transparency, and enterprise-first prioritization.

Job Requirements:

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business, technology, finance, or a related field.
    • 10+ years of experience in portfolio management, program management, IT governance, or enterprise transformation.

    • Demonstrated experience managing portfolios that include both Business-sponsored and IT-sponsored investments.
    • Experience establishing governance frameworks and operating cadences, ideally within an enterprise operating system (e.g., EBS, DBS, lean governance models).
    • Strong financial acumen: comfortable with forecasting, business case validation, and investment optimization.
    • Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence senior leaders in a matrixed environment.
    • Experience building executive dashboards and portfolio reporting (Power BI/Tableau/Excel + strong storytelling).

    • Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or similarly complex environments).
    • Familiarity with Jira as an enterprise portfolio management and intake tool.
    • Ability to convey complex portfolio information clearly and persuasively to both IT and Business audiences.
    • Proven change leader capable of building governance that increases speed and confidence, not bureaucracy.
