The Senior Manager, Investment Finance is responsible for leading a team in the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, investment accounting, and transaction support for OMERS global investment portfolios. This role ensures the integrity of investment-related financial information, compliance with accounting standards, and the effectiveness of financial controls and processes. The Senior Manager works collaboratively with investment teams, finance, risk, and other stakeholders to provide expert financial guidance, facilitate decision-making, and support OMERS strategic objectives.

This is a 12 month direct contract with OMERS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements and reports for global investment portfolios in accordance with IFRS and OMERS policies.

  • Oversee investment accounting functions, ensuring the accurate recording, valuation, and reporting of complex investments.

  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls, processes, and systems to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

  • Provide expert financial analysis and support for investment transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and new initiatives.

  • Collaborate with investment teams, risk management, legal, and other internal stakeholders to support business objectives and optimize financial performance.

  • Monitor developments in accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, and assess their impact on OMERS investment finance activities.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, advisors, and regulatory bodies as required.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Support the preparation and presentation of financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.

  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, quality, and transparency of the investment finance function.

Qualifications:

  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in investment finance, accounting, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong expertise in investment accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for complex and illiquid assets.

  • Solid knowledge of IFRS, fair value measurement, and regulatory requirements relevant to pension funds and investment organizations.

  • Proven leadership skills, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience working in a large, complex investment or financial services environment is an asset.

The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 - 175,000 per year.
