What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Insurance Finance will provide financial advice and support for the Insurance business, and provide insightful financial analytics and management presentations to senior Finance and Insurance executives. Reporting to the Director Insurance Finance, this position will undertake forecasting, planning and analysis for the Insurance business and produce reporting packages that will be distributed to Senior Management employees.

What you will do?

  • Oversee creation of performance reports for the Insurance platform including summary forecast financials, business unit analyses, commentaries, performance metrics, and trend analyses.
  • Ensure insightful drivers-based analyses on Insurance performance with a focus on key performance metrics (financial and non-financial) and risks to business objectives.
  • Responsible for liaising with Enterprise Finance teams (Performance Management, Investor Relations and Enterprise Initiatives) with respect to the financial performance of Insurance.
  • Lead the forecast, planning & analysis (FP&A) process for Insurance, including periodic forecasts, annual planning, and 5 year planning.
  • Oversee Insurance’s role in Enterprise Stress Testing, ensuring clear timelines and deliverables are communicated and assist as required to resolve issues with timeliness and workload requirements.
  • Apply business and application knowledge to facilitate identification of solutions and create options aligned to business strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with contributors, finance teams, and business advisors to ensure all inputs are received on time and understood, and consolidated into reporting packages.
  • Lead/assist the design and implementation of new standardized processes to simplify, innovate and automate analysis.
  • As required, lead/provide support for ad hoc initiatives/requests and quarter-end activities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Accounting/Finance designation (CPA, CFA) or equivalent, with 5+ years' of experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills: ability to clearly and concisely articulate business performance
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Sense of urgency and ability to handle demands from multiple directions amidst submission deadlines
  • Solid relationship management skills since frequent interaction with key contacts is necessary to be successful in this role
  • Ability to impact/influence without direct authority
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to take initiative, coupled with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working in performance management
  • Working knowledge of TM1 and Perspectives and any relational database applications
