JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager will play a critical role in strengthening the IT foundation of Eastspring Japan.

This position requires both technical expertise and project leadership with deep knowledge in one core area, preferably IT infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a proactive mindset and the ability to expand their contributions across other domains without creating silos.

As part of a small hands-on team, the role also requires flexibility to cover a broad range of responsibilities, including day-to-day operational tasks.

The Senior Manager will work closely with regional/global IT teams, business stakeholders, and external third-party vendors to drive various projects and ensure stable operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and execute Tokyo office IT-related projects (e.g., infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, security risk initiatives) in alignment with regional/global IT strategies.
  • Identify and manage local IT risks (e.g., aging infrastructure, security, compliance) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external third-party vendors, ensuring effective project delivery and ongoing support.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in key IT domains (e.g., Infrastructure, Cloud, Workplace technology, Information Security), discussing with colleagues and business users to deliver an appropriate solution.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with business departments to introduce new technologies (e.g., AI, Automation) to improve efficiency.
  • Mentor and guide junior IT colleagues; knowledge-sharing and skills development.
  • Maintain IT documentation, operational procedures, and ensure compliance with corporate security and IT policies.
  • Support business applications used in the Japan office, escalating to, or coordinating with third party vendors as required.
  • Assist in IT asset management, procurement, and invoice processing as needed.
  • Provide general IT administrative support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.

  • 7+ years of experience in IT roles such as infrastructure, systems operations, or project management, preferably in an international environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading IT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure (Windows Server, networks, cloud platforms such as Azure/M365).
  • Must possess foundational knowledge in information security, including access management, vulnerability management, IT risk and governance, and third-party security due diligence.
  • Experience working with external third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and propose practical solutions.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior colleagues; ability to contribute to team capability building.
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese (fluent/native) and English (business-level reading/writing, conversational speaking).
  • Experience in application development or support is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of AI, Salesforce, or related business platforms is a strong plus.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a strong plus.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to explore and contribute across multiple IT domains
  • Comfortable operating in a small team environment with broad responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of building relationships with both local and regional stakeholders.
