Senior Manager, Health Strategy

The Senior Manager, Employer Health Strategy, will be responsible for supporting key clients with assessing and building a data-driven health strategy for their employees. As part of the Group Benefits team, the successful candidate will work with select employers to understand their employees’ health needs and challenges, conduct in-depth analysis of existing claims and behavioural data, provide recommendations on health plan designs and preventative health initiatives, and build health economic models to measure the impact of these interventions. Working across various multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will also apply their strong health economics and analytics acumen to build a new predictive capability that helps Manulife Group Benefits anticipate and address the needs of our clients and their workforce.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with various teams including Data, Advanced Analytics, Distribution, and Product to build a nuanced, data-driven understanding of employers’ health needs and pain points.
  • Identify and analyze longitudinal claims data, digital engagement data, external research, and market trends to create health economic models and inform employer health strategy.
  • In collaboration with the Product team, adopt a solution-focused mindset to develop and communicate strategic recommendations to employers to inform health plan design changes and utilization of net new health interventions.
  • Partner with Data and Advanced Analytics teams to establish repeatable health economics assessment frameworks that incorporate key health and claims data to understand the impact of interventions (i.e., on drug claims, disability rates).
  • Build trust and credibility with key clients through ongoing partnership on their employees’ health goals, as well as by sharing data-driven insights to demonstrate the impact of the interventions they have undertaken.
  • Support the design, build, and maintenance of analytics reports and dashboards to identify key insights, and apply these insights to develop external-facing case studies and thought leadership / publications.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including health economics, strategic analytics and insights, or comparable roles. Management consulting experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, analyze, and translate health interventions data into meaningful insights.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex data trends into understandable concepts.
  • Ability to generate high-quality presentations, materials, and artefacts for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability and confidence to deliver and present to senior leadership.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical thinking ability.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and proven experience working with cross-functional teams (product, technology, marketing, sales, operations) as well as within a client services capacity.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple competing priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
  • High level of self-motivation with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Highly developed financial acumen, modelling expertise, and business orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Economics, Healthcare Management, Analytics or a related field
  • Experience working with health claims data

Salary range is expected to be between

$103,270.00 CAD - $153,270.00 CAD
