Senior Manager Health Economics, Market Access, Reimbursement (m/f/d)

Position Summary

Provide strategic leadership and tactical execution of Health Economics, Market Access & Reimbursement (HEMAR) for LivaNova DACH. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with country level commercial leaders to establish the HEMAR priorities for the DACH business, including applying for reimbursement for new products, seeking health economic solutions to driving adoption of LIVANOVA products into hospitals and engaging with HEMAR stakeholders. The individual will have responsibility for the full portfolio of LIVANOVA products, including neuromodulation (focus area) and cardiopulmonary brands. The postholder will also be expected to engage in country level government affairs to monitor emerging opportunities and threats to LIVANOVA and to suggest appropriate strategies. In addition to the responsibility for DACH, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to lead EU level initiatives, working with HEMAR leads from other EU countries. 

General Responsibilities

  • Represent the HEMAR function within DACH, including participation in country level leadership teams and establishing a clear, prioritized HEMAR plan for DACH with primary focus on Germany.
  • Lead on development of reimbursement applications for new products, including identification of evidence needs, input to pricing and determining the timing of applications (NUB, DRG, ZE, OPS etc.)
  • Monitor and interpret health policy developments, regulatory frameworks and changes in the hospital sector, engage with country level government affairs/ advocacy bodies and help the company to take the right conclusions.
  • Support the commercial functions by developing and applying health economic value propositions with regards to LIVANOVAs innovative technologies and present them to customers/ hospitals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the adoption of LIVANOVA products, for example through recognition in guidelines or professional body advocacy.
  • Support training of local market sales professionals in health economics & market access principles/ value propositions.
  • Engage in EU HEMAR team development, including sharing of best practice with other countries and occasional leadership of EU level projects.

Skills and Experience

  • A graduate-level qualification in a relevant field and/or relevant applied experience to illustrate a deep understanding of health economics/market access/reimbursement. 
  • Applied training in health economic methods/market access is desirable.
  • Some years’ experience in an applied Health Economics/Market Access/ Reimbursement role ideally in Medical Devices and the hospital market, with a strong track record of establishing close alignment with commercial functions.
  • Deep understanding of the DACH reimbursement systems for medical technologies, including applying for reimbursement for new technologies and price management of mature technologies.
  • Good understanding of the Hospital ecosystem in the DACH countries.
  • Good understanding of evidence-based medicine principles, including interpretation of clinical and health economic methods and health technology assessment. 
  • Experience of working with medical device industry associations & relevant professional bodies in the DACH countries.
  • An established network of relevant health economic stakeholders across would be beneficial.
  • Experience of neuromodulation and/or cardiovascular disease is desirable but not essential.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Can do attitude combined with analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Estimate 20% of time required for travel, primarily within Germany/ DACH. Occasional international travel may be required to participate in global leadership/strategy initiatives.
