This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery business unit group. Novanta offers highly reliable, precise and safe solutions that enhance system performance and improve patient outcomes. Insufflators, pumps and disposable tube sets, along with medical visualization and operating room integration technologies are the preferred solution for minimally invasive surgery applications.

Summary

This role is a key position for the medical division of Novanta and accountable for financial reporting processes. This includes both, the financial reporting within the MIS group as well as reporting of required financial information to other stakeholders with the Novanta group or external parties. The jobholder will lead a team which assists him in data gathering, financial data structuring and reporting. The Manager FP&A will report to the MIS Head of controlling FP&A.  

The successful candidate must efficiently and accurately document and record data while reviewing and improving process flows. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to successfully interact with all levels of management within and outside the company. The candidate must display the ability to work within a team environment, make logical decisions, and show flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead of budgeting and reporting processes including developing financial targets, key metrics, multi-year financial projections and alignment of financial and operational objectives as well as transitioning required financial information into Novanta’s reporting tools
  • Involvement of the group wide strategic planning process
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports according to US GAAP together with the existing FP&A group
  • Coordinate Operational Expense forecasting process across the global business, define deliverables, and help drive better business outcomes
  • Business partner for senior management within Advanced Surgery
  • Active monitoring of the business process for the operative, short- and medium-term planning of sales, including by coordinating the budget planning and budget updating, evaluating and creating forecasts
  • Provide support for all ad-hoc requests. Understand the organization and serve as a focal point for Headquarter or Corporate requests.
  • Assist accounting on the month-end journal entries when applicable and prepare related month-end reconciliations and analysis.
  • Drive compliance with company policy and procedures and SOX internal control standards.
  • Support accounting if required with both internal and external audits during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Ability to interface successfully with other peer groups to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

 

 

General Tasks

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead FP&A reporting team

 

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • 5-8+ years of controlling/FP&A is a must, preferably in a production company
  • Comprehensive understanding of all business finance aspects mandatory
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work well independently and, in a team, environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ever-changing environment with the ability to stay focused and quickly achieve closure
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • English fluency is a must, German language skills are a big plus
  • Organizational, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel
  • SAP experience highly desired

 

Travel Requirements  

  • Up to 10% travel to other business locations, as required.
