Senior Manager, Financial Control, Global Functions Finance

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

This is a challenging, strategic role within the Global Functions, Financial Control team. You will be a key leader ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of RBC's enterprise fixed asset processes and financial reporting. You will drive control improvement, standardization of processes, and data refinement across the fixed asset lifecycle while facilitating reporting accuracy and compliance across the Enterprise. Your subject matter expertise will ensure consistency and integrity of RBC’s bank-wide capital and intangible assets population.

What will you do?

  • Lead a project to develop and maintain effective controls supporting enterprise fixed asset processes, throughout the asset lifecycle, with a focus on SAP-managed equipment and real estate assets
  • Conduct detailed review of financial data supporting fixed asset disclosures, partnering with various teams to improve data quality and support accuracy and completeness in disclosures and reporting
  • Manage wide pool of stakeholders to ensure enterprise consistency in execution and accountability across source systems and teams
  • Coordinate with various groups to ensure accurate external reporting, including MD&A, B/S, P&L, Note disclosures & regulatory reporting; own issue remediation to drive results
  • Evaluate existing accounting policies and liaise with Accounting Policy Group to determine appropriate treatments; maintain technical accounting knowledge (e.g. Capital Assets & Impairment, IFRS 16) and keep abreast of new accounting developments to provide accounting interpretation, guidance and advice in a variety of situations
  • Ensure enterprise policies are in place and adhered to, including execution and review of SOX & End User Control compliance
  • Support the strategic review of our fixed asset systems and subledger, and their integration across enterprise processes
  • Lead special projects as assigned by Director, Financial Control

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Accounting designation (CPA required)
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to influence across teams to drive process improvement and adoption
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving control issues
  • Experience working with and improving detailed data sets
  • Ability to apply accounting standards in complex transactions

Nice-to-have

  • 5–7 years' of professional experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry
  • Knowledge of RBC systems / eGL / and related tools
